Ahhhh, a southern treat that goes back many a year!!!
![]() ![]() My wife is originally from Georgia (Moultrie), and my grandfather owned a Coca-Cola bottling plant in Montecello, Florida and one here in St. Augustine as well. Can't tell you how many times I had that treat!!! ![]() ![]()

I can remember going to the store in the 50's, and there would be a Coca-Cola COOLER filled with those bottles of Coke and ice. Fabulous!!!!

hee...heee.....yep, nothing like a cold Coke with peanuts... I grew up on this treat!
Kurt, yes, I'm Georgia Opa. My grandchildren call me Opa so I use this as my nickname. Ummmm... JT, I have never tried peanuts in Mountain Dew, but just might give it a try. Allan, love the photo of the old Coke icebox...what a treasure! You have strong Coke roots and via your wife, GA roots as well! |

Never heard of peanuts in Coke, I'm from the north.....I do have a 1960's coke machine that dispenses the bottles, not plugged in currently....which are still sold (or at least were) at some stores.

Not a joke Kurt. Try it, and I'll bet you'll like it. It is a unique southern treat. Kind of like RC and a moon pie.

OK group... for me the secret is the small bottle of Coke that is very cold. Take a nice drink out of the bottle to give a bit more space. Then put in salty peanuts up to the top. Trust me, it tastes great! Enjoy! Bill P.

Slim Jims and Pork Rinds with an ice cold coke. We use to guess where the bottles were originally manufactured and the winner got to cash in the bottles for desposit; three cents for each bottle. As a kid I could not understand why I could always find three bottles; which were worth nine cents and candy cost a dime. Memories of the '50s.

Jamie, JJ and others of you are right... nothing like an ice cold coke in the small bottle. If you visit my home, we serve the real thing, Coca Cola in an iced cold bottle! ;~)
About the peanuts... here in Georgia we take our peanuts seriously. The very best ones, we think, come from The Univ. of GA Ag. School. They have a big fun raiser each year selling peanuts donated to them by south Georgia farmers. I buy their peanuts in big 4 lb. cans and eat on them until the next year. They have red skins, roasted skinless and honey roasted. We buy all three varieties. YUMMY!!! BTW, here we say, American by birth.... Georgian by the Grace of God! ;~) Cheers y'all! Bill P. |

Bubba or Joe.... yep, the 50's when a dollar was worth a dollar! Slim Jims and Pork Rinds always go well with an ice cold Coke! ;~)
BTW, that was supposed to say "fund" raiser in my last post... |

Ummmm....Nancy, with a beer I think I would have the beer in my right hand and a handful of peanuts in my left hand. Then between drinks of beer I would toss a few peanuts into my mouth. Does that work for you?
BTW, pretty cat! |
