Advice re case opener
Guys
I need to pick up a case opener for use on Rolex 1675, 1680, 5513 and 16600 - Dont worry, I am not about to get 'creative'! The one that keeps coming up is Bergeon 5537 as it appears well tooled, and comes complete with wrench and several dies. I just want to be sure that this set will cover all the above models. Could anyone advise on this please? Many thanks |

You cannot go wrong with Bergeon the set of 6 dies will be fine for all watches mentioned.

The 5537 is a great set. I would also recommend buying a bench vise and case holder. It's not always easy or best to hold the case when opening.

Size is 29.50 mm or No.5 die size.
Another tool is the US manufactured lg open-all with supplied case holder. Works well for practically stuck case backs. http://www.esslinger.com/lg-openall-...roduct=1010465 |

I just bought this kit from Ace Timer and have used it several times using the 29.5 and 28.3mm dies. They fit the case backs fine and I've had no incidents to report. I selected this type because an old watchmaker I once knew used one like it, so I figure if it was good enough for him it will work for me.

Try one of these first:

Rather than hold the case in your hand, invest a few more bucks in a case and movement holder with 4 pins. The square design makes it easy to hold or put in a vice while you twist off the case back. TRUST ME. This will minimize slips and scratches. It will also ensure a more secure seal when putting the case back on, than using your hands alone.
