Pure Rolex pedigree.

Finally getting the respect it deserves!
The one I'm giving my son (at college graduation) is engraved. I let him wear it when we went to Philmont Scout Ranch when he was 14. It has his initials, Mt. Phillips, elevation and date, to copy the above ad, though a much more modest accomplishment. Still, not bad for a 14 year old to hike 10 days to about 12,000 feet carrying a 40 pound pack.

Thanks!! The 42mm Polar is probably the only other modern ref. I'll ever buy.

I really wish the 16550 and 16570 had carried over the orange 24hr hand.

Is that why it's called the Polar? I always thought it was because of its white face. I have no experience in any kind of snow at all but I would have thought that in white out conditions a black faced watch would be easier to read. But this accomplished gentleman obviously knows what he's doing and I am happy to know one of my favorite timepieces is not just a looker but a very capable tool indeed.
Enjoying mine with a cold one |

This is such a cool watch for its simplicity. There is nothing wrong with the 16570 but I keep finding myself jonesing for the 216570. Here's a recent photo when my watch and I went out exploring. You can see we didn't get too far away from civilization.
