What do you think of this vintage 1675

It's a 1978 Rolex gmt 1675 and owner wants $4800. It looks pretty good to me, what do you guys think?

Looks like a MKII dial.....should be early 70's, not 1978

Be aware, there is a lot of stretch in that band.

What's the serial number?

And I'm on the fence regarding the hands. Could just be pics, but the hands and indices do have that tennis ball color to them. So maybe a relume match job, or maybe not. For me, too hard to tell from those pics.

Bracelet is very stretched, but nothing a couple hundred usd and a month or two at camp MY can't fix.

The watch is not 1978, it is circa 1973 so the dial would be correct and the hands appear to be 40-year-old hands.

Am I the only one that thinks that font is the oddest and least beautiful of the 1675 fonts?

Photos are not good, but the watch looks right to me - I don't see refinished hands.
The bracelet is pretty shot.

Case looks a bit polished (pictures a little poor) but at that price it looks OK....

One of the poorer buffing jobs I've seen.

This is what happens when a hack is hired to buff a Rolex cheaply. The lugs look nothing like the original.

Seriously, the poor polish job, the racking lume on the hands and the thoroughly trashed bracelet. I think you can do better IMHO

For the condition, the price is probably pretty fair. I'd shoot for a little less, but I suspect if the bracelet was tighter and the polish job was better, it'd go for over $5K.

Ultimately need better pics of this one but the hour hand looks flaked? I'm on the fence about relume...maybe just flaking?

Bracelet is a non-issue. It's a vintage jubilee bracelet, that it's even in one peice is impressive enough.

I would recommend you get the reference numbers checked to verify the year of production. The serial number could be appropriate for that dial, or could be earlier with a later dial replacement, or later watch as you say (1978) but has the wrong dial. Also find out about the service history.

OTHERWISE, that is a very nice looking watch with great patina.
