No one wants a Breitling?
Hi All, new to the forum as I am in the market for a Rolex. I have been primarily a Breitling guy for years and currently have a SuperOcean 44 and a SuperOcean Chrono. I have been hounding everyone with a Sub or a GMT for sale and no one is interested in a trade plus cash. I know this is primarily a Rolex site, but there seems to be a lot of other luxury watch brands they are willing to trade for. Why not Breitling?

Good question. Breitling does not get much love here. There are other places to go and sell your goods though. Good luck. Oh, and welcome

You've stumbled on the breitling conundrum.
Most sell for a fraction of retail. Supply greatly exceeds Demand on the secondary market. |

It's only down probably for the afternoon, but I meant you could try posting a FS on the site when it's up and running again. If you want I will let you know when it is

Either sell the watch outright or save for the Rolex, not worth giving away a nice Breitling.

without the risk of offending the OP or anyone else.
Breitling simply isnt in the same 'league' as Rolex. thats why no one wants to trade 'down'. its like offering your corvette and cash for my porsche I'm not being a snob. I love the Breitling Avenger and older superocean models **they completely ruined the new superoceans** |

I own both Rolex models and I have a couple of Breitling Super Avengers. The Breitlings are just as lovely as my Rolex models. It's a matter of opinion and choice. Looking down at anything thinking in generality like that does make you a snob. By the way I own a corvette and its faster than any porshe that dares a challenge.

definitely agree with Alex. Wonderful watches, but bad if you want to sell them

i like the look of some of the simpler breightling but for some reason , ive never liked one quite enough to buy one ,,, but the low resale actually makes second hand ownership quite tempting ,,, a bit like ebel ,

No you go back to sleep. I have had a Steelfish and a B01 chronomat and they are built and finished just as well as my subc and better than my old sub esp the bracelets, only they can be bought a helluva lot cheaper. They are far more bang for your buck than Rolex if you buy smart and then resale is not a huge problem either.

cmon man, have you seen the NEW steelfish? and your going to compare that to a sub-C??????? anything bought 'used' is a smart buy because depreciation was absorbed by original purchaser. this applies to rolex as well. The B01 was designed to compete with Rolex in mind i will give you that and again, fantastic watch full stop. in general Rolex because of build quailty, in house movements, materials etc are above Breitling and most would agree sorry if you were offended but truth hurts. I hope to buy an 'older' steelfish model as a daily beater one day |

I have the Navitimer Olympus and it's my second favorite watch (after my all black Rolex Y-series GMT-II). I love that I only have to reset the Olympus once every 4 years.
I could care less about the resale market. I have never resold one of my watches yet. And it's unlikely I ever will.

It would appear Balboa73 loves stirring things
up. He's been trolling the Rolex Forum. Now, it looks like he has decided to disparage the Breitling crowd. What's next? |

I think either way, sale or trade, you get hammered when moving a Breitling. It's a shame, as they hold a special place in my heart as it was first expensive watch. I still own it and will never part with it.
I did sell a navitmer last year and it sold on Breitling Source and was not easy. I started at what I thought was fair as it had just been serviced by Breitling USA to the tune of $600. I dropped the price $200 every Friday and finally it sold for $500 less than what I hoped it would, but it was gone to a good home and the gentleman was quite excited to have it. |

I have the older blue steelfish which I will compare with the old sub, which is fairer, and it has a much better bracelet and I have the blue dial which is absolutely gorgeous and ever-changing and is as beautiful as a Nautilus or blue DJ2. It also has better lume and a better depth rating, so I think it is a better watch all round. And ofc both are much better priced to buy and I would heartily encourage you to buy the blue Fish for sure, amazing value at under $2K for a fantastic all round watch. I do prefer more Rolex models to Breitling but there are some Breitling models that are just as well made if not better than their Rolex equivalents, that was my point. |

I've been nailed profusely trying to sell two Breitlings in the past. Never again. There are just too many new ones at good prices out their to compete.
