Sea Dweller Took Kit Wallet
Apologies if this is in the wrong section.
Recently I got myself a M Series Sea Dweller 16600 but was not supplied with a tool kit. I've seen 2 styles of tool kits on Ebay both claiming to be vintage, does anyone know which one should of been issued with my watch and which is the newer one of the two. Thanks |

He's asking when they switched from the old to new style. My W didn't come with one as well, but I bought one off Ebay (the newer style with the leather pockets instead of the plastic). I think mine would have come with the older style originally, but the all leather one looks far more durable to me.

No diving kit were given with M serial 16600... As well as later watches... Except if the AD was really a nice one !

Half the toolkits on eBay are fakes made in China.

Some real nice AD (or maybe with very good customers) used to not give the diving kit with all SD.... So they kept it in their store. When Rolex stopped distributing diving kits, some AD might have keep on giving them to SD buyers, no matter if the watch really was to be sold with it.
But anyway, Rolex stopped distribution fo diving kits during the Z and M serials...

My SD came from a grey dealer, pre owned and unworn.
I would have assumed the one on the right was the newer tool kit wallet (plastic pockets) as the one on the left (smooth leather) is in a style with the old Rolex boxes (non wave box), but then again the clue may be the old style translation booklet. Does anyone know what year the change of wallet style took place? |
