Oyster Perpetual modern watches

Hi all

These seem to be quite nice and 36mm case rather than 34mm of an Air King. Does anyone own these models or have any thoughts on them? any wrist shots would be great.

I think these watches are highly underrated. I own a silver dial model, random serial with new oyster bracelet (see pic) and I absolutely love it. I have owned a Sub Date, a GMT, and while they are beautiful, this is by far my favorite. Especially for daily wear with most any outfit. I also have a smaller-ish wrist at 6.5 inches.

That's a lovely watch!

I have a similar size wrist so was thinking of adding an OP or AK.

Do you know if they do your version but with blue or pink markers?

I do not believe the silver dial comes with blue or pink markers in the 36 mm. I don't believe so, but i could be wrong. I know my version comes in a blue dial as well, with the same color markers as my silver dial. Rolex also has made this watch with a black dial and an orange concentric circle, which was really cool, but wasn't for me for daily wear. Not sure if they still offer it. I vote silver...

Can anyone confirm all the dials available in the Oyster Perpetual range? Only 4 shown on rolex.com.

Only standard dials (silver, blue, black) are available in the new catalogue.

Another in the OP range...

Pictures courtesy of Rolex.com

I think I like the silver/blue one as it is unusual but the black dial with the pink markers is also nice - look forward to trying them on

Does the bracelet for this model have polished centre links? I think it does but am not 100% from the pictures.

Thanks

The pink / black dial looks awfully a lot like the Exp.1

The 116000 is a nice piece - same proportions as the previous generation Explorer (albeit without a black dial with white 3-6-9), and comes on the updated Oyster bracelet. Like the Air King, it is on a fully brushed bracelet. At a glance, the bracelet seems like an all brushed version of the Datejust bracelet, but the clasp is slightly different - the coronet is recessed as opposed to embossed, and there isn't an Easylink on it

For this year's master catalogue, the dial selection has been reduced to three - silver, blue and black/pink. The concentrics are no longer shown, although as they weren't great sellers, it shouldn't be too hard to track one down. Likewise, the fluted bezel variant the 116034 has been dropped from this year's catalogue, but it's still possible to get hold of them. If you ask me, the blue 3-6-9 is the pick of the dials

Chris

Thanks Chris - that is very useful information. The blue is winning my vote at the moment.

The blue was near the top of my list, until Omega released the 38.5mm blue "Bond" Aqua-Terra 8500. It knocked that OP off the list, as they're just too similar..

I'm a huge fan of this type of all-round gentleman's watch, though, and I can't resist these upgraded OPs the have the blue middle concentric at my dealer right now, but with the fluted WG bezel, and I'm just not into dropping an extra $1200 on a bezel that, quite honestly, doesn't belong on that watch to my eyes (Looks great on the black 3-6-9 though ) He said he'd have no problem tracking one down with the regular bezel, and hopefully I'll have it within two weeks
