My First Rolex. Question on Fit.
After kicking tired for 3 years I finally picked up a SS Sub! I ended up finding a brand new never worn 2001 with matching box and papers. I opted for this model as it's a better size for my wrist and it's the classic rolex I've always wanted.
I've read a lot about fit and I know it generally just comes down to my own person preference. One of the things I noticed is that the watch tends to sit of center of my wrist. I assume this is because of the weight? Current size is snug enough allows me to slip my pointer finger through. I am upgrading from a small TAG. Should I tighten and will this stop the watch from being off center, or should I just get used to the large watch.rolex First pic shows the off center. Second pic show the movement on my wrist for sizing reference. I love this watch!! |

I'd say you have it sized how I'd have it sized. I always wore my Submariner the same way. My GMT too.

Try the micro adjustments on the clasp

Looks about perfect to me but as you said it is a personal preference. Great watch by the way

Second photo looks perfect. First photo looks too loose. Try one micro hole tighter.

If you tighten it slightly it should help to center the watch head on your wrist. I used to wear mine a bit loose like that, and started wearing them a bit more snug and it sits much better.

To avoid the creep, tighten slightly.
And congrats on a great watch! Lug holes! |

If you search this forum you will find some threads devoted to sizing the SubC bracelet vs wrist size, such as the following:

Nice pick up!
You wrote: "After kicking tired for 3 years" That is about how most of us felt after searching for the right watch! lol You can always size it down one more hole on the clasp and see how that feels. You do know how to do that I hope? I use a toothpick not to scratch the metal. That is my favorite sub and you got a beauty!

Great - It's already on the 3rd whole in but I think I'll move it one micro-adjustment and see how it feels.
I haven't figured out how to open the clasp extension. I see your supposed to push on the link with the circle but I'm afraid I will break it. I spoke with a friend who said that at first they can be very tight. The store I picked it up from it just around the corner so I may just go back and get them to adjust and show me how to open the clasp. Very happy about this watch. Hopefully it will be first of many! |

Do you need to open the clasp extension before changing the micro-adjustment?

i wear my watch loose like a bracelet. I hate the high and tight look. all about what you like.
I also have a smaller wrist and opted for a smaller watch. |

You learn something new everyday! Made the micro adjustment with tooth-pick and it feels great now! I am sure I will change it back a few times, esp when it gets warmer. Love it! Now off to go stair at my wrist for the rest of the night.

Okay - made the adjustment! Feels snug but still sits pretty low on my wrist and I can slip my pinky through the bottom. Love it!!

Yes
Just apply pressure to the circle and it should pop out. When putting it back together, make sure you insert the link with the open groove onto the bar and the circle link should be slightly raised, then push on the second link. I will send you my number to call me if you need support.

it's a heavy watch..
Gravity will always rotate the watch to the outside of the wrist.. Nobody walks around with their wrist turned to the inside so the watch moves the other direction...

Beautiful Sub!! Love the 16610 and the 40mm case. Better proportion to the bracelet (IMO anyways). Wear it well!! Classic piece and a great pick up!

I am a member of the skinny wrist club, so I'll pass along a tidbit of info another TRF member gave me. It bothered me that the clasp on my Sub was way off center after the bracelet was adjusted and this caused the watch to sit off center on my wrist. I was told to reverse/flip the band around, and voila all fixed. Watch sits just right on the top of my wrist and the clasp is almost perfectly centered on the underside of my wrist. You get used to the backwards closing of the clasp in a few days.

Congrats on the acquisition! I actually have a 2001 16610 which was purchased in 2001. It's one of those watches I can never trade or sell for sentimental reasons, although my wife noticed I wasn't wearing it so she got it resized for her. LOL |
