Apart from that? correct dial for age? hands etc..? Does price seem excessive?

Overpriced. Do you ever check the For Sale section here? All the watches you post for us to verify seem to come from other sites.

I see you have asked for a 1680 but not a 5513. Type 5513 in the search field in the For Sale section..there's quite a few in there, and they come up often.

Incorrect dial. Should be a gilt gloss or meters first matte dial. Very pricey.

So early 66 based on the serial is not likely accurate despite what Rolex UK may have stated, the case back, bezel, insert and dial and hands are likely a service replacement as well as the band. The serial number puts the watch in the forth quarter of 1967 and would have come with a meters first dial. However the watch looks great, just overpriced for what it truly is.
IMHO

I'm curious, is it best to date these watches based on the case serial number or the date on the case back? Reason I ask is because I recently saw a meters first 5513 with a 1.9M serial number, but the case back was stamped 68.

What would a 'good' price for this watch be as it's a very attractive looking watch!

Thanks for all your comments!

Not sure about uk market, but here a 'good' price would be a bit over half of what they are asking.

You can have 1.9mil serials with meters first and have the caseback be first quarter of 68
