Early Oyster Date Precision ID and Help!
Hi, Newbie to the Forums here, but have had a look around on the site a fair bit and it's a wealth of information.
However I have had trouble getting to the bottom of the year that my Oyster Date Precision was made. From my research it seems to be from the mid 50's, then again I've seen pictures of similar models claiming to be made in the early 70's. Also I've managed to loose the crown and stem on this watch the other day (don't ask ![]() It's old and battered but it really is my most liked watch, I just need to get it running again. Thanks in advance. Here are the pics: More pictures on my flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/121346064@N05/ ![]() IMG_2453 by localsupply, on Flickr ![]() IMG_2456 by localsupply, on Flickr |

The serial numbers reset in 55, so yours is around 1958, te crown and winding stem can be replaced, I don't know of any reputable service places in Australia, I'd recommend a reputable independent watchmaker over a rolex service center though as cost should be quite a bit less. If you can find your crown and winding stem you'd save around $100 as well. The watch appears to be 100% original and my favorite feature on this watch is the roulette date wheel (even days red, odd Days black) neat watch and can't wait to see pics of her back on your wrist

http://m.ebay.com/itm/160662312207?nav=SEARCH that's your winding stem http://m.ebay.com/itm/390751413885?nav=SEARCH there's ones that are guaranteed authentic rolex http://m.ebay.com/itm/321356462291?nav=SEARCH here's a used crown, they're asking. $200 new on eBay, 100 buy it now used, I'd reckon you can get this one with the tube for Less than 50. Or you can let the watchmaker handle the parts, might be slightly more but your guaranteed to get the right part(he might have spares and it be less as well)
