I got Robbed
Anyone ever get robbed?
I used this jeweler that a good friend recommended. Upon his trust I gave this " jeweler" who has a 35 year old reputation, cash for a new sub mariner, a Brietling and a vintage 5512 submariner that I wanted to sell... 2 months later of " waiting " he is now longer in business... no watches and no money. |

That happened to my mother kind of. She brought her watches to someone to service them.
Rolex ladies president and a 2 tone datejust. Few weeks go by and she hasn't heard from him. Turns out he took her watches and ran. Sad thing is he was in business for a very long time and then just decided to leave our town and head to new york never to be heard from again. it sucks and to this day my mother refuses to purchase any Rolex because they remind her of the 2 that she had stolen. |

Put his name out that 5512 will stand out a bit if it finds its way to a f/s ad

Wow, a 35 year reputation!
Sorry to hear about this. Also, sorry to say but it reminds of this Seinfeld episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwnanPuuCwk

People can be found, especially when they're fugitives of the law.

Wow. There just must be more to this story. Have you inquired of what has happened to him from neighbors? Other businesses in the area?

Sorry to hear this. It is not illegal to pay in cash and even if you pay in cash you should always ask for a receipt. You must try to get your money back. Good Luck.

There really isn't much more to the story...I wish there was.
Seems like I am not the only person that he has "scammed or robbed." There has been charges filed. Waiting to see what happens now - its very upsetting ! All the reviews on yelp and that I have heard were very positive, - seems like just recently he turned into a thief. |

I'm sorry to hear of your loss and trust the Police and Authorities will find this thief and Justice will be served. Even though you do your homework and feel you can trust a person who has a well established business...you never can be 100% sure. All you can do is have faith...more than likely this person has made a few mistakes along the way and will leave a trail and when found will be prosecuted!!!
Good luck...

Wow thats too bad - not trying to defend the culprit but something must have happened to make a 35 years experienced watchguy turns to a thief!
I hope you get closure and get some - if not all - your watches and money back.. Sorry to hear about your misfortunes...

Misfortune doesn't give someone the right to be a theft.
I am out about 14k - money for the new Sub that I have been waiting to buy for years now, and the trade in value for the 2 watches I had given him to sell. I wish there was something I could do but the truth is there isn't ... |

@pgreenberg Yes it was Wall Street Jewelers, are you familiar with them?
It just a very sad situation, was just curious to see if anyone on the forum had come across this Jeweler or my watches. Or if anyone has been in the same situation? The 5512 was a special watch which I was only trading in because I had the new Sub on "order." The Brietling was a my brothers watch which he didn't really wear so he was selling to get $$$ back to use toward his wedding. |

Thanks for sharing your story. We all learn from these episodes that problems can come in many forms - even amongst long-time businesses.
