Why I'm into Rolex Again

Hello all,

As a 1st post I wanted to share some of what brought me back to Rolex. I actually never really left as I've had my TT sub and rose Cellini in my collection for over 10 years. While the Cellini was a gift from the wife, it was always a bit of a head scratcher for me. While nice, it never sang to me like my JLC Grand Date or Zenith El Primero Chronomaster so it did not get much wrist time as I found it a bit boring. However, I always considered the TT sub one of the most beautiful watches made at any price. It has elegant and robust proportions and the blue dial color is exquisite. I always feel comfortable wearing that watch no matter the occasion. Also, my father was a jeweler and growing up he taught me that 2 brands that will retain their value are PP and Rolex. Hence, the TT sub was my grail watch. Having said that, I lost interest for several years and concentrated on Panerai, being fortunate enough to snag a PAM 127 below retail while on vacation in the Bahamas when it came out! I was considering something new recently and looked at Rolex again. I was very impressed by the Sky King and the SS Yachtmaster 2 that I initially thought looked vulgar but grew on me and I now absolutely love. However, the watch that really hit me was the 116718 GMT. When I put it on I knew it was THE ONE. I acquired it last week and love everything about it. There is a feeling of quality and solidness that I get when wearing a Rolex. I felt that feeling on all the models I tried on before choosing the GMT and I am again impressed by the genius of Rolex, it's sturdy movements, quality of construction, purposeful watches and inherent value. Sorry for the long post.

Yes, agree. "Sky king" is a reference to sky dweller? And welcome.

127 below retail upon release? Wow.....like discovering a gold mine!

Meanwhile, the 718 is my favorite all YG watch. Nicely done.

I was shocked when I saw the 127 on display as they were obviously hard to find. When I tried it on and asked the price and it was a little over 2k below the retail in U.S. well, let's just say it sweetened the deal. From a very well respected AD nonetheless!

Great watch and you were never not into Rolex, you just got distracted by other things...

Welcome to the 718 club. It's one of my favorites. If you like the SS YM2, you owe it to yourself to try the YG YM2.
