Fractured pearl on ceramic insert
A 116610 SubC spends most of the time on my wrist. As luck would have it I cracked the pearl on the insert when the watch hit a doorknob. Can anyone tell me for sure whether they can replace the pearl by itself or does the whole insert need to be replaced?
Thank you ahead of time.

Apparently you're in luck. Supposedly there's a new Rolex kit created specifically to address this issue. So now they can reinstall a new pearl at minimal cost. The one catch is that the ceramic insert and pearl ring much be undamaged or cracked.
Will see if I can find the link. |

Not likely why pay for for a wafer thin sliver of ceramic old style good enough and has served well for years Rolex today are nothing but pampered bits of jewelry and never see hard service

I love my ceramic insert. I work on cars pretty much everyday with my father in law I've hit it many a time always worried when I look, but in the end no scratch!
I don't go crazy with it but I don't ever take it off when I'm working in the yard, on cars, installing flooring (I'm a commercial floor guy). I love how everyone says all they are is a piece of jewelry now, but I still think there are a few people who where them for work. The ceramic was a nice addition, i'm a little OCD about scratches on the bezel. So I probably would have had my bezel swapped at least twice by now. Granted it's only 100 bucks or so including labor on the old insert, but still they would scratch and fairly easily. |

So sorry to hear John.
I hope you get it sorted with minimal inconvenience to you. Pain in the arse because I know you haven't had that watch very long. Let us know how it goes

Sorry not even if the ceramic inserts had two special tools given away free if the insert got damaged. Just cannot see the point of ceramic inserts only perhaps now its a in fashion item.If I was going to buy a ceramic related watch then I would buy a Rado they have been making them since the 1960s and there prices are quite reasonable.Unlike the thin slither Rolex ceramic or is that called CERACHROM with Magnetron Cathode Sputtering applied bezel indices.I have often used and abused a couple of my watches as working tools and hardly got a scratch on the aliminum ones, but I did replace one that cost just £35 but that was after almost 10 years of quite hard almost daily underwater work.

I'm an old fashioned guy, give me a old Rolex watch over a new Rolex watch any day of the week, I'm happy with it being tool watch and not something you have to be careful with besides it's sentimental value is priceless.
