Does it make sense to buy used?
I have been looking at alot of different Panerai's trying to decide on the model I want. Today I took 150 mile round trip drive to the nearest AD to view the various models and try on some different sizes and I finally settled on the 111. The AD only sells for MSRP plus the additional 8.635% sales tax so no way was I buying there. Searching the for sale in the forum and ebay seems anyone selling a used 111 wants around $5500 and a new one can be had for around 6100-6200 am I missing something here for an extra 5-600 get new in the box?

You get a warranty from Panerai, which to some is worth dealing with a AD. Plus you know your getting a watch with NO history. I am sure lots of the used ones are perfectly fine. It's just when you deal with a dealer, you know everything is going to be taken care of. That's why you buy from AD's you like and are treated good, as they will treat you well after the sale. Gray market watches are a whole different deal, they do include a warranty, but most are through the shop you bought it from. So you take a chance of terrible customer service and other things. Just my 2 cents. |

The 6497's are being discontinued and those movements are ROCK SOLID. Believe it or not, they are holding their value better than the in-house. This is a more recent trend.

Pre owned is the smart way to buy. More than likely you can find a babied model. Look on the forum from a trusted seller.

I agree.
$600 extra for a new one is the way to go and hold the tax. 100% provinance on the buyers side. Can't beat that down the track. ![]()
