constellation service?
Hello all,
Bought my better half a constellation in 2002. She wore it for several years and stopped using once she got an iPhone. Recently she decided to start wearing it. Runs fine and has had at least one battery change. My question is, when should I send this in for servicing. My Rolex goes in every 5-7 years, but am not sure if a battery operated Omega needs one unless it breaks. Thanks in advance for the help. |

Quartz watches are recommended for servicing at similar intervals as mechanical watches. Although there are less moving parts in quartz movements, they still have some and they need lubrication. Also, the rubber seals may become ineffective over time and the watch will not be WR. Personally, I never had my quartz watches serviced and it was never an issue. I would just have the battery changed and the watch pressure tested to determine if a new rubber gasket was needed. My logic was that the cost of a new quartz movement was similar to the cost of a full service so I might as well wait until the movement completely fails. However, after 15+ years none of the quartz movements I owned had any noticeable issues. IMHO, have the Constellation pressure tested once a year and that's it.
