Gift for my Dad: SubC vs. SeaDweller C
Looking to purchase a watch for my Dad later this year. He's a casual guy and loves the water - hence Sub vs. SeaDweller. This will be his first and only Rolex. He's not the type to spend money on himself but I appreciate everything he's done for me so I wanted to buy him something special.
Thoughts on one vs the other? |

I'd go with the SubC but any Rolex you choose would be nice.

I would first make 300% sure he wants a Rolex and will wear it.
Or make sure the one you purchase is one YOU also want in case he doesnt. |

Both are awesome watches. If you haven't done so already, make sure you check them out in person side by side to get an honest feel for the differences (besides price!). You can't go wrong either way! Personally, I prefer the SD.

Take him to the AD to choose. It would be a nice moment to share.

Ditto... You cannot go wrong with this reference. It fits everything and everyone.

I'd say make it a surprise and go for the sub...but at the end of the day, always go with your gut.

Subc.
If his not a WIS, he will not appreciate the SDc, but he will probably recognize the Subc

Having worn both recently I would opt for the Sub-C with date - it is comfortable to wear and is a great all rounder. Great gesture on your part and I am sure your father will be delighted.

A watch is such a personal choice - better made by the person who will be wearing it!

Asking a bunch of strangers what your father would like for a present is frankly ill advised. The poor old chap may think a bezelled watch looks hideous.
Just take him to a shop and let him decide. Mick |

Seadweller can be think and heavy that he may not to wear. Sub c is the most iconic. U cant go wrong with. Just ask ur dad, do u like sub c two tone or steel |

I'd do some shopping with him and get a feel for which he prefers and then surprise him with it later on.

Gift for my Dad: SubC vs. SeaDweller C
I really like the idea of taking him and share a moment of joy with him. He may refuse at the beginning (I know my father would) but if you insist he will go. A SubC would be my choice. It's shines nicely and I like the cyclop which helps for aging eyes. It also doesn't have the case "thickness" the SDc has.
What a great gesture from your side. Personally, I would never be able to pay back my father in my lifetime. Sorry got a bit emotional here. |

Unless he is a watch guy the Sub-C would be my choice. Classic, Glidelock for easy adjustments and it came from his son.

Could not go wrong with either - if not a surprise, then you could take him along to an AD to choose?

The SD is much more specific of a watch.
The sub is more of an all arounder. I think the decision is clear.

As a third option, considered the TT Blue sub 16613 or the new sun burst 116613 for your dad? If he's not a watch guy, he might appreciate the iconic Blue sub more because of it's general appeal and beauty!

Either would be a great choice. My personal preference would be the SubC for his first and possibly only Rolex, but you can't go wrong with either. Great gift.
