Vintage men gold bezels

Did all vintage men's gold bezels for 36mm rolex models come with a stamping on underside?

I'm looking at one that has a flat underside but no stamps. Were old bezels made in only 18k, or were there 14k also?

Thanks

Bezels were 18k and 14k depends on the model and year of production. Early bezels were completely unmarked (stamped).

some gens were unmarked. But the aftermarket 18k and 14k were also unmarked. I guess that's why began putting the crown in them. But, I have seen aftermarket with the 2 holes, and you have to loop it to see there was no crown

Vintage men gold bezels

Came from a 1803; I bought the dial and bezel after owner swapped out for diamonds.

Here are some pics. As I mentioned, it doesn't have the stamps, but bevel is very sharp and looks very well made.

Measures approx 34mm outside, 30 inside. I just took it to a jeweler who put a current meter deal on it and said he believes it to be 18k (but he also explained how these can't be totally accurate (heavy plating, etc)).

I can take better and/or macro pics if needed.

Measure the height and weigh it for me, looks like a more modern high side version, hard to tell with pics. Take a few more shots also, close ups

Thanks David. I'll get more measurements and pics on Monday, but I had it weighed today: 4.1g

I'll double-check that on another scale and get back with the other info.

When buying something that is supposed to be 30-40 years old, signs of wear actually can help the authentication. Most scammers can't or don't bother to make an item look worn.

This bezel looks a bit too sharp. Unless the bezel was never worn or polished, I would expect it to be far less sharp.

1803 and 1601 bezels should be about 3 grams in weight. I have a 1601 bezel right now that weighs in around 2.8 grams and is a lot less sharp.

Hmm have to disagree with that weight, maybe yours is over polished and lost weight, many older bezels are sharp still on day dates, people tend to send them more often to good watch markers and Rolex themselves, a bad polish can ruin it sure in one polish not many. As for wear and authentication, very dicey method IMHO anyone can create scratches or wear by simply polishing it.
