Stopped by RSC about Explorer dial Lume
Stopped by Dallas RSC to have them look at the gray spots on the dial marker lume, some are worse than others. 1 & 2 are the worst. This can be seen without magnification under good lighting, mostly when outdoors. All the lume on the hands is perfect. Facility and people were very nice. They took my watch and asked to give them 20 minutes. After 20 minutes they said they really don’t see anything wrong and were pulling a new explorer dial to compare. They did spend a lot of time looking at it. They never really said "yeah we see it" they basically were saying "nothing’s wrong”. I even showed them this picture of mine from my phone and she said "well all the markers are the same so must be normal”. They did say in the beginning that if the dial did need to be replaced it would have to go to NY, cause they do new purchase repairs. I didn't go in there with the attitude that it was screwed up and I want a new dial, I went in asking their opinion. I'm sure if I did that they would have just replaced it to shut me up. For me the negatives outweigh the positives, I have a perfectly running Rolex and this is the only flaw, I'm sure it would come back with something else.

I am sorry but it looks pretty darn good to me. As Rolex is a mass produced watch and make a very durable quality product they do not produce perfection. To find perfection you will need to pay multiple times the price you paid for a SS Rolex... like tens of thousands of dollars.
I suggest you wear and enjoy and not worry Welcome to TRF

Can hardly see it even at that magnification. They ALL have it by the way. It's the nature of the material.

Did you purchase from an AD? did you notice this when you purchased it? It's hard for me to see (in general), but I'm sure if it bothers you then you need to fight to get a perfect Rolex.

Purchased from Trusted Seller on here. Noticed it after a few days of wearing while outside in good light.

I think that if your watch were the size of that picture, it might be a problem, but since it isn't, I probably could live with it.
However, I've not personally seen it, obviously, so that's just my impression. Maybe some others could post macros of their ExpII watches and get a comparison. I've tried on these watches at my AD a couple of times and I've never noted that.

Well you bought a new watch and are not satisfied with it so at this point the only thing that would make me happy is to exchange the watch or this will continue to bother you

I'm a picky bast**d and I'm having a hard time seeing what the issue is?
Are you talking about the lume bezel being a lighter color? |

Gray specs mostly on the round lume markers on the dial, worst ones are the 1 & 2 markers.

I'm pretty sure that's just the colour of luminova. It's a mottled sort of colour?

This ^. It's the nature of the material. As I said. Every lume plot is unique.

Well with these old eyes and even with the high magnification I cannot see the problem. Lume is just paint and when it flows and drys like most paint will show some very slight differences. Today a lupe and high magnification can be a Rolex watch owners worst enemy.

Lume application is not always perfect, even on Rolexes, so learn to accept it and don't get obsessed, a good life lesson here.

Both my subs have what I call a mottled look to the grayish white material that is between the white gold surround. I would think this is normal and standard.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the lume on the watch. It looks just like my sub's lume.

Wouldn't bother me a bit, but if it bothers you have RSC replace it.
