Trauma and Rolex

I work in the Operating Room, and we did an interesting Trauma case this morning. Glad we wear gloves now, and I didn't get any blood on the 16800

Those NATO bands are the best for bodily substance collection!
I prefer stainless; for when the gloves rip.

If you can wear your watch in the OR, you're either a circ-a-lator or anesthesia. Real trauma cases are always "interesting."

I had to do a double take on the no-cyclops sub. Looks great!

Administering anesthesia, luckily I don't typically come into contact with bodily fluids much or rip a glove. Can't remember the last time in nearly 20 years. Personally, I would rather use a NATO that can be thrown in the washing machine or even thrown away if it got terribly soiled. Trying to clean blood off a bracelet can be a headache. Tons of nooks and crannies.......

WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGE BELOW!

saw the thread title and figured i would share. was driving along the I-17 last week in Arizona and came up on a motorcycle accident that had just happened. guy was in bad shape, lying in the slow lane with a bad head laceration, likely skull fx, and no pulse. started CPR and managed to get a pulse after 6 minutes. this is what my 14060 looked like afterwards....

It was a really interesting case. Car vs mature bovine animal weighing-in at an estimated 1500 lbs. Demolished the car and killed the cow. Driver is lucky he was wearing his seat-belt. Multiple scalp / forehead lacerations. 2000 ml blood loss.

Ah, I are a CRNA, my own self. This also explains the time that you can spend on here. I'm sure you've seen the Brit song on YouTube.... Also the anesthesia vs. orthopedics talking cartoon. Classics with, well, maybe a grain of truth, LOL!

Sorry Jason, but I think this crosses a line, and I'm not sure I see the point of showing it. What's next; "I work in a morgue - who wants to see my Rolex on a cadaver?"

No offence mate, and I'm sure you do invaluable and important work, but do we need to see the gore? Nah.

X 2.... I have all the respect in the world for your work, but an odd thread.

I work for the government as a Meat Hygiene Inspector - wait till you see my pics from within the abattoir environment: Show your Rolex with an image of acute diffuse septic peritonitis in the bovine carcase....Not really! But only because I'm not allowed to wear my watch in the production areas.

This thread is gruesome. Almost as bad as the morgue pictures one guy posted last year.

If my mom were undergoing surgery I'd be appalled that the doctor was taking wrist shots.

Not professional boys, not at all

Agree, hopefully no one who is related to this individual reads the type of injury they're loved ones suffered on a Internet forum so much for privacy.

Ok... Gruesome. Yes, but against HIPAA... No.

I think he gets the point that the pics were over the line of wrist shots, and the MODS need to remove these threads before they become offensive to some.

IMHO this just shows how far some of us (me included) have taken this hobby that it's on our minds all the time.

I mentioned HIPPA because "privacy" is typically in reference to patient privacy and that's where it is applied. But hey I agree with you that it crosses a privacy line. Which one is up to the person.

Sorry some feel it is inappropriate. It was not intended this way. Mods please delete thread.

BTW, it is HIPAA not HIPPA

I don't think privacy even comes into play. Jason did not show the patient in any of the pictures. Are they gruesome? Yes. But it's not that serious...

I've got to take up for Jason from this standpoint. When you work in this setting, you get totally desensitized to this stuff. Indeed, I could ( in theory) eat a five course dinner during a trauma case, nobig deal. I can see, however, how these pictures may disturb the general public and is in poor taste.

Pilots and others on here post pictures of their watches at work, to everyone's delight. I understand this is different. But you guys all know Jason as a great guy and valuable contributor to the forum. Just a bad idea after a bad case. I vote to give him a pass. The mods can take the thread down and this'll be history.

Didn't get to see the pics but great to see there is a Rolex to brighten everyone's day up no matter what their profession or the challenge at hand!

I had it right in my first post .... I am fully aware that you had no intent in being gruesome. I just felt that it was just too much for a forum where we can't post pictures of lots of different things. To me it was NEVER a privacy issue.

I have been around long enough to know you are a very positive and large contributor here and once again I truly respect what you do for humanity.

Nice of you to help .. I know I would have had a serious problem if nobody had stoped to help me when I had my stroke while driving my prevost .. Now it's time to throw the strap away and give the watch a serious scrub .... I hope the injured party pulls thru

No PHI or PII involved. HIPAA doesn't apply. Period.
