What do you think? DJII + exp2 for AP diver

So my TRF friends, what do you think if I flip my 116333 plus a 216570 for an AP SS diver?

Is the Diver used or new? Are you trading them or selling and using proceeds to buy, and if trading, is it an even trade? Not clear...TIA

Thanks guys. The AP is new, the Rolex are definitely mint. Probably about an even trade.

Seems like it's about right, I'm thinking that the DJ retails around $7-7.5K preowned and the Exp would be in the $6.5K range, not a bad price for a BNIB Diver....what series is the Diver, H or I?

As to whether you should: the Diver is an awesome piece and is a real eye-catcher, but you're giving up some variety to get it. Honestly depends upon how much wrist time they're getting and how much more you like the AP than them!

The diver is an I. I tried the 15400, beautiful watch but not for me. I tend to like sports models better!

I'd say go for it, got mine a month or so ago and has hardly left my wrist since.

Tough one, those Rolexes are not my fav, but nor is the SS Diver. Keep in mind AP is my favorite brand, but I don't think I'd do it unless you come out ahead. For sporty, what about a new 42mm or a 44mm novelty? Those I would do in a heartbeat (granted some cash oop)

Great feedback, thanks everyone. I actually owned the 44 novelty SS before, it was too big for me so I flipped it. I actually like the diver dial better than the new 42, I like simple dials (for the most part).

Question - any of you use the diver as a daily beater? What are your thoughts?

Yes. Rolex for AP absolutely!

HUGE congrats in advance--can't wait to see that Diver!

Hopefully Jason pipes in here as he has all three Divers (SS, FC and Ceramic).

Depends on you...I personally can't stand bezel scratches, so I would never daily one.

I've been wearing it daily, but I would be loathe to use it as a "beater". Get something cheap if that's what you want it for, unless scratches etc. don't bother you, but that's a user-dependent thing. :)

Beater is not the right term :). I am quite conscious about the watch and my Rolexes after years of wearing are still in great condition. As long as the diver holds up close to a SS Rolex it should work fine for me.

I think you'll miss those two- I wouldn't. I have and love the Diver - but I have found (over time) that my SS Rolex get far more wear

Then no brainer -- do it. Love my APs and Divers, they get the most wear of any of my watches. I would throw out there though, after you get a diver of course, that a 15400 (or the other flavors) is great to dress up and dress down, especially in the summer. I wear my white/silver 15400 with shorts and linen in the summer and also with a suit. It really does go with almost everything.

I'll do it for now, then buy back a Rolex again later
Alternatively, keep the DJ2 and flip the Exp2 + cash for the sporty Diver!

I think you would kind of be getting screwed in that deal, your dj ii I thinks is worth at least 9k and your explorer is at least 6.5k so 14.5k at the minimum but I could easily see you sell them for a total of 17k. A new diver on the grey market would be about 25k total.
