Kayaking with digital SLR?
I've really been getting the itch to get the kayak out lately. I really want to do some photography with it as well. I have a Cannon Digital Rebel XTi, with a normal lense (~3 inches) and a zoom lense (~6 inches). Should I get a waterproof case, and if so, are there any you all recommend? Or should I just keep it in a dry bag until ready to use it?
Thoughts? |

What type of kayaking are you planning to do? If you're planning on sea kayaking and want to shoot while on the water, get the case. If you're just going to kayak, stop on some land and take some pictures, the dry bag will be fine. I highly recommend making sure your gear is insured and have a backup camera on dry land just in case.

You're brave.
I'd say get a point and shoot. ![]()

I may try one of these:
http://topkayaker.net/TopKayakerShop...1¤cy=USD However, it won't let me adjust the zoom, or use my longer zoom lense. Also, the main reason I wanted this camera was to shoot while kayaking, and I really haven't used the camera much for anything since I got it. So, I'd probably rather damage it kayling and using it, then have pristine camera I never use ![]() |
