Buying in the UK vs USA

Hiyas,

I"ve been pondering getting either a Broad Arrow GMT or a Speedmaster Day Date. Although I like the 50th anniversary LE I"m not sure about the hippocampus on the face. Looks a tab busy, but I kinda still like it!

Anyways, Being a American in the UK whats the better place to purchase a new Omega? I should be able to get the VAT off which is 17.5% so in reality, does 17.5% off bring the UK price in line with USA MSRP prices which do not include tax?

If the prices are about the same shopping in the UK vs USA doesnt matter.
I/ve read that 30% off is doing good, can this be achieved in Cambridge or London? I"ve looked at a few and gotten the "what can we do to sell you it today ?" spiel but wasnt ready to buy then.

Thanks
Drew

If you are looking for a "currency advantage" you have to first determine whether you are paid in pounds, euros, or American dollars.

If you are paid in lbs it would be better to buy from the US, as long as you don't have to pay the VAT anyway.

If you are paid in dollars, you are still better off buying in America because the dollar's value is quite low in comparison to other currencies.

Prices in the uk are expensive compared to most other places around.

I would buy in the US for warranty issues, aim for a 30% discount also.

But you never know, always shop around, you walk into a dealer and he may have your watch at a great price!

Thanks for the info.

I am paid in USD so it looks like the USA is the place to buy. Looks like I will do my window shopping here in the UK and buying in the USA.

cheers

"Paids in lbs"??????????????????
I wish I was paid in lbs of ££££££££££££!

Anything from the US is cheap at the moment with sterling so strong against the dollar...well except maybe precious metals!!!!
