To be honest there are so many Rolexes out there, I have not been able to narrow down which unique piece to collect. I would welcome any suggestions, as long as they have historical significance or unique that others often don't see. Of course a Paul Newman Daytona would be awesome. An example of what my next piece I am looking for is the Heuer Monaco 1133b popularized by Steve McQueen in "LeMans." Is there a similar iconic piece by Rolex? |

Love the VC. As for Rolex, I would buy either a Sub, maybe green or blue bezel/dial, or a Daytona. Sub and Daytona are icons. If Daytona, go for a panda dial.

Great start for both you & your wife collection.
The Toledo 1952 is at 1st glance a really gorgeous watch. The case design is gorgeous & I can definitely see myself wearing one. But, the more I stared at the dial, I thought I was looking at a pair of eyes, nose & an open O shaped mouth looking back at me. I really do! I mean no offence, the watch has a surprised look on its face. LOL Hope you are enjoying it. |

I just picked up one of my Holy Grails! I've been looking for an all original Heuer Monaco 1133b for several months. Every time I was close, there was an issue with the watch or seller. As some of you may know, the Monaco 1133b was an innovative design with the first automatic chronograph. It was later made famous by Steve McQueen wearing the watch in the movie "LeMans".

Very good question! So far I do like the 5712 but I'm trying to find a Patek that really speaks to me. Most pieces I choose are off the beaten path. I am still searching for a unique PP of which I am sure one will come along into my collection eventually. I have a similar issue with AP - there are so many renditions of the RO and ROO. I've even considered the Millenary 4101 but it felt too large on my wrist. Sent from my 16M |
