New Sub C Date or New SD 4000

I would rather get the SubC because I got to try on the SD4000 and it really didn't look much different than the SubC. It has features that you as the owner will notice but it can't be seen from others. I do appreciate the technology behind it with the different divers clasp and helium escape valve but the price difference of almost $2k those features almost didn't seem enough. If it was a $1k difference it would be better. The case is thicker but you won't be able to notice it. It is not much heavier that you can feel compared to the SubC. I feel there should be a little more striking difference between the two with that price difference. If I am not mistaken even the previous SD was not that far off in price compared to the SUb

SubC Date for thinness, cleaner bezel, black bezel/black dial and price. SD for no cyclops, chunkiness, matte dial and rarity (compared to a Submariner).

I'm not in the market for either, but, I lean towards the Sub.

SDc for me, but I've always been a SD > DSSD > Sub Date fan.

With that said, I recently picked up an LVc over the SDc, to add some color to my collection.

I'll wait for the prices to come down for the SDc.

I just had a similar dilemma between the Sub No-Date and the SD... Ended up picking up the SubC ND as I found it just to be a cleaner looking watch with a better profile on the wrist..

This is so subjective though.. Only you can decide.

Have recently added the SD 4000 so I now have both - that's a tough one because they are very different pieces in my opinion. I picked up the SD 4000 primarily to dive, but I also have been missing my DSSD and even know the SD4000 isn't as big it still reminds me of my DSSD in the ways that I liked it - Raised crystal, slightly thicker, different bezel action than the Sub. But - if I could only have one I think it would have to be the Sub C with cyclops. I have other dive watches. Clear as mud...right?

My very first Rolex... Checked both side by side without any preference, one talked to me, the other didn't.

It's very subjective.

The SubC for me all the way.
It looks to me like the SubC has a bigger dial with more legible hour markers and hands.
Apart from that the SubC is very comfortable on the wrist with less chance of smacking it into a door frame (although the SD would probably come off better than the door frame in such an encounter).

It all depends on what else you have and what features you are looking for.

I had the 114060 and I really liked it a lot - the cleanest Rolex in the line-up and unparallelled heritage to the original 1953 Submariner. And on top of that, it is the best value out there at around $6,500 brand new.

Now I sold it shortly after I got my 116600 about a month and a half ago. I personally prefer the vintage vibe of the SD4K case with more tapered lugs and crown guards in combination with the matte dial. It looks and wears a bit smaller because of the smaller case and dial, but at the same time it feels more compact and technical, it has a bit more heft to it. For ME, it is the ultimate stainless steel Rolex in the line-up. I actually don't want or need anything else (and I've since sold both my Submariner 114060 and Deepsea 116660).

Now you have to make up your own mind what is important to you...

they are pretty much the same thing, only the sub has the cyclops, and the SD has the matte black dial. I'm not a fan of the matte black dial, wish Rolex would get rid of it.
