So many threads about the bruiser or blue-black gmt have me thinking...would a gmt be more 'useful' than a Daytona? Ok, let me re-phrase. If you have access to both pieces (forget the grail concept of the SS Daytona) which way would you go? Honestly. (Say SS Daytona was not hard to get at all)

They are both exceptional. I would lean towards the BLNR based on your travel, as mentioned already.

Both are beautiful but I think the GMT's buzz is going to die down a little very soon... The Daytona is the King here and too special not to get.

Since you travel often, I'd recommend the GMT...my personal preference though would be the Daytona. It would go great with your Sub

I purchased a white Daytona SS for my father and a BLNR for myself.
Here is how I classify the watches:
For Compliments: Daytona
For Date Function: BLNR
For GMT Function: BLNR
For travel: BLNR
For a splash of color: BLNR
For a more slender fit when wearing a dress shirt: Daytona

I just got the BLNR yesterday in fact and I am wearing it instead of my DateJust II.
I do like the functionality of the watch and I like that it isn't as flashy.

However, if I was to pick one Rolex, I'd say go for the Daytona.

You clearly want the Daytona since you asked "daytona or the BLNR" and not "BLNR or Daytona".

I'll make this very easy for all. Remember when the black SS GMT2c came out in 2007 how "hot"it was! fast forward a few years later, you can get 1000$ off a BNIB any day and a used for 1800-2000$ less in the gray market! same thing with the BLNR, its the hot kid in the block that will gradually lose its sparkle! Daytona, after 14 year of redesign in year 2000 still a timeless classic. The bling and glare with BLNR is a contemprary hype! it is a great watch but not timeless with this disco club bezel!( i know I will be hit hard for my comment ;)

This is a tough one. Both are great watches for different reasons. I own both of them, but the BLNR is new to me. Have just had it for less than a month. At this point, I would lean more towards the BLNR as I feel it is a more well rounded watch. In the end you can't go wrong with either one.

If it was not the BLNR, just the GMT II, than Daytona. But the BLNR is very attractive.... So the BLNR - but based on all the assumptions mentioned.

Pretty sure we have debunked the SS Daytona being hard to get, at least in the US of A. That said, gmt is useful if you need to track multiple time zones and the Daytona is useful if you like to time everything because of OCD

You can always get a GMT whenever you want (it was my first rolex in 1997). A SS Daytona is a bit more difficult (BNIB from an AD) to obtain usually. So if presented with the opportunity to get one or the other I would go Daytona first notwithstanding the GMT is significantly more useful.

GMT is a great watch but in my opinion Daytona is unbeatable. It's pure class and pure sport, it has so much presence on the wrist (7" wrist here).

Looks like the BLNR will be the most common Rolex around soon enough as I also suspect non-WIS people will also take the BLNR over the other Rolex Pro models

I own both and would sell the BLNR before the Daytona.

The GMT function is nice, but honestly, most of us can do the math in our head or check a phone for a different time zone these days.
