Anybody know anything about this Rolex clock?
Picked this up at an estate sale yesterday. Non-working condition at the moment but I plan to take it apart. Anybody know anything? Look Authentic?
Looks like the center piece at one time lit up and rotated in a kaleidoscope style. I was thinking 1960's? Thanks for any info! Grant

If it helps, the guy has had it for over 30 years. I spoke to the owner (still living) and bought it from him personally. He thinks he bought it from an auction, but has a fuzzy memory as he's got to be 90 years old. He said it was working when he bought it and used flourescent lighting.

King, they guy would not take less than $50, and believe me I tried to talk him down several times... He didn't need the money and didn't really want to sell his stuff but his kids were making him... GH

It looks like it's probably fake, but pop off the back and compare the movement with other vintage rolex wall clocks

since Rolex doesn't actually make wall clocks, they only license them to bear the trademark logo; this one would need a bit of history to know for sure..
In any event, it's a great wall conversation piece and very likely that a modern battery powered movement can be installed easily.. Enjoy it and have some great times with your friends around it..

Ok so the "crystal" is glass and the movement is a sweep seconds style manufactured by a "Sun Chang Watch and Clock Industrial Co., LTD."
Couple more pics. Probably have more questions than before. Can't find much about this manufacturer on google. GH

Do you think the word Rolex is original to the clock? Same age how it's applied and so on-

Lettering appears original to the clock. Spacing is careful and someone took the time to apply them evenly and straight.
I just don't understand why 30-40 years ago someone would have made a fake Rolex clock. That is to say, before the brand took off to the stratosphere with prices. I realize the watches have been enjoyed since the 30's-ish. I see why people fake Rolex clocks today, but the 1950's and 1960's? I guess anything is possible and it will probably remain a mystery unless I can find somebody who saw this type of clock in person years ago... GH

Grant my friend do you still are serious when you believe it's a product from Rolex? Have you ever seen a wrist watch with
components from Sun Chang Watch and Clock Industrial Co., LTD? Maybe you want to believe it's made by Rolex but I can tell you for sure it's not. Just add the $50 to your ripoff account. Just run over it by a bulldozer and go further, you made a mistake but we love you anyway.

Put it this way - I doubt it was made in Geneva… or by - or for - ROLEX.
