All: I'm thinking of buying this 5512. Comments, guidance on dial, bezel, other, would be much appreciated.

5512 is an interesting sub reference, much less common tha 5513 (and produced until 1977). it looks to be mid 70's as feet first. Dial looks ok. insert could be a replacement one. it would be good to get some pics form case.

the insert has been changed, hard to tell about hands and dial with photo. Can you supply a daylight image that displays better colors?

It looks nice though.

Looks like you found a very nice specimen of an early 1970s 5512 Submariner. As the cajun wrote, the bezel insert has been replaced - but many vintage Subs and GMTs have replacement bezel inserts. The dial looks original but a serial number would help in dating the watch/dial.

As others above have said, the dial is original/correct. However, the insert is a later service version. A clearer macro picture of the dial to help determine the condition would be helpful.
