16570 white vs black
Hello TRF!
I am just about to pull the trigger on a Explorer II 16570. I tried on the 216570 at an AD and felt like the watch was wearing me even with a 7.5" wrist. so now I'm at a crossroads between white or black dial for everyday versatility. from denim and t-shirts to a Suit on occasion. what dial color would work best? |

I would go for the white dial. And having a 7.5" wrist the 216570 should be no problem.

Black goes with everything and if you put a nice leather strap on it you get a whole different look altogether. Very glad I took the black one the dial pips against the steel bezel and the hands and hour markers really show up

U can't go wrong with either, it's a matter of preference. I chose white (actually cream one) because all my other rolex tool watches r black. I can't remember on top of my head of any rolex with white face unless dress watches.

I would suggest white for the 16570, but that may be a biased opinion as I own a white dial 16570.
To be honest, you cannot go wrong with either choice. The main reason why I chose a white dial 16570 is because at that time, there were not many Rolex sport watches with a white dial other than the SS Daytona. The majority had black dials. Since I also have a Sub Date with a black dial, I wanted to add some diversity to my collection. Also, the white dial and red GMT hand is an awesome looking combination. With respect to what can be worn with this watch, I believe it can be worn with most types of attire. However, in my opinion, a black dial 16570 would look better with a suit. I seldomly wear my white dial 16570 with a suit. It is usually reserved for my days off or when I am doing chores around the house. Hope that helps. |

I bought a white dial first. Nice. Sold it to buy something else.
Then I bought a black dial. Like new. But at the same time I had a Daytona and wore it all the time. Sold the black dial. Now I bought a third Explorer II to have a sport watch while I save for a Patek Aquanaut. Had the same choice to make. This is it today: It's only on NATO because I'm on crutches and don't want to ding up the bracelet. But when the crutches go, the Oyster bracelet goes back on. |

I like the white dial on this one, just a super clean look. Black may be a tad bit dressier but white can chop wood for most any occasion as well.

Its difficult for me to give you advice without knowing you better, so I can only tell you my taste. I consider black dials in general to be more legible and more masculine. The perfect "blackness" of the EX II 16570 dial in combination with the mercedes hands give maximum visibility to my eyes. I love that watch!
Enjoy the hunting. |

I have both and would say that the black is more versatile overall.

I have 'em both.
I feel like the black dial is a bit more understated and is my go-to beater watch....it sees a lot of wrist time. The white dial is more formal and takes a lot of cruises with me and even goes out for the occasional night on the town..

I own the black but the white has grown on me and I believe it is the more popular. For me I've made my choice.

I have a polar 216570 and love it. Chose it over the black because these aging eyes found the black hands on the white face provided easy readability. That said, I believe the black is more versatile.

I just got the black one myself. I find it to be more versatile and more fun to mix and match with straps or nato.

I think people are attracted by the cool nickname "Polar". If it was known as the "Plain Yogurt" it wouldn't be nearly so popular.

However, if OP has a lot of black dial watches already, then I say try the white EXP.

My vote is for the white because it almost looks like it is the trademark look for it. Also the second hour hand stands out better IMHO

Same, as it is the Explorer i think white suits it best - it almost feels like white was made for the explorer and black is offered because it is a safe bet.
