Would like a clear shot of the dial, in the shade next to sunlight for best natural look
It is OK for Tudor's to look a little rough

Considering its owner's personal military history, it's amazing this watch is still here...Serviced once since Vietnam use and I aim to conserve it with a fresh service and do as little as possible to the exterior and dial...I had thought I would change the crystal and retain its original one as shown for historical purposes, but that's debatable at this point...As a combat veteran's watch I should leave it relatively untouched.

Is the dial relumed, or is it the photo?

Looks like more than a relume, but with its history, sounds like it's lucky to still be with us!

Serial number puts it about 1965 I believe and it wasn't actually issued until the late 1960s.
I would think it's possibly a relume...saw a great deal of use and I'll get better images later...I should have images of the watch on the veteran in country soon and will post whatever I have...Better shots of this when I can. |

Need a clear shot of the dial. Appears relumed, redone or damaged. Never buy a watch with these type of photos!

If you want better info. I suggest you polywatch the crystal. Clear it up so you can see the dial better.

Thanks, I assumed the dial was redone with an old service which the veteran mentioned...I'll leave this one as is since it has an interesting history. Ed

A documented Vietnam War issue Tudor 7928 watch
A documented Vietnam War issue Tudor 7928 watch worn by a SEAL Team EM shown in the photo with the watch...Watch had seen much hard use and wear and during its last service it had been relumed...
"I enlisted in the Navy in 1968 to be in the 1st ever pre-Bud’s boot camp class. Passed that and went on to Bud’s In Coronado. Graduated in 1969 as a member of Class 50. Interesting point here, when our graduating class was assembled on the "Grinder" for the commencement ceremony, at it’s close, we were asked by the base commander, to choose whether we wanted to go to one of the UDT teams, or become a SEAL, by a show of hands. That’s how our class was split up. During the training in BUD’s were issued our Tudor watches, black face for enlisted and blue faced for officers and these went with us to our next duty station... I did 2 tours in "Nam", and .... The watch on display was issued to me and ran well for another 3 years after my military service. At that point it stopped working and sat in a drawer for something like 25 years till I had it repaired." His comment that Officers received blue face and Enlisted got black face watches is the first I've heard of that practice. It's likely that was short lived, but if anyone has more information please contact me. Thanks. Ed
