Does Sub C and 16610 cyclops magnifying same size?

My brother has Sub 50th anniversary. Today we bring my brand new sub c and his sub together and i realised that sub c cyclops magnifying the date smaller size then his sub. My cyclops magnifying the date but actually not as much as his sub. I do not believe it makes 2.5 times bigger.

I will appreciate if someone would tell me that rolex has changed cyclops magnifier rate with sub c.

From everything I've read, the magnification of the cyclops on both the 16610 and 116610 has always been specified as 2.5 times.

There was an issue with the cyclops magnification on some of the newer models.
Not sure what the cause or resolution was. I remember reading it here as well.
I witnessed it first hand when comparing a few Subs at my AD. On one of the models, there was very minimal magnification. Very clear to the naked eye.
He even pulled it from the display case to return to his rep.
Let us know what your AD says.

As far as I know, the only change to the cyclops in the recent years was the introduction of an anti-reflecting coating for the cyclops. However, I'm not sure if that would cause this problem.

Its getting pretty common now, with many models having this smaller date magnification. I don't know why/how Rolex decided to do it this way, but I personally do not like it.

I went my AD today. He said rolex is doing some changes time to time. This is what i got from him😃 . I checked other subs in AD and i believe new subs magnification is smaler then previous version.

I love the cyclops but with a less than 2.5 magnification I don't think there's a reason for having it on any watch.

I don't know about the cyclops being smaller but on the 1680 looks gigantic anyone knows why?

I thought the Cyclops were the same but the distance from the numbers varied by model.

Exactly. Many recent threads about this issue. They are making new ones with less magnification. We may have to start worrying about watches with 'new' and 'old' cyclops.
