New 116710LN G Serial#?
I just bought a new 116710LN from an AD in San Diego. While at the store I did not check the serial number but it turns out that it is not random but a G series.
Searching the forum i did not find any recent threads as to if it is normal or not to see new G serial # GMT's at an AD. Would this be old inventory or are they still producing G serial numbers for some models? Thanks in advance for your response. Jeff |

It's just a number..
The G serials were first seen in late 2010 when the Random serials first came out.. It has always taken 3 or 4 years to work through the million watches that would have made up a G serial 7 digit production.. (keeping in mind that they are producing them concurrently with randoms and V's.. they don't use one up before starting on another, there is significant overlap) So, sure, likely a lot of G serials still in the marketplace..

i agree with larry. there is an overlap for sure as both my exp and sub are 2013 watches, one being a random serial and the other being g serial along with 7 digits.

Out of interest is it a high or low number...i.e. G1xxxxx or G9xxxxx?

I'd personally be slightly peeved... That watch could be 4 years old sitting. Not that it matters in practicality, but who said I'm practical?

As far as we know G serials are still being spit out of Geneva. As to exactly when your watch was made who knows. Even if it has green lume it might not be much more than 1 1/2 years old or so, but is still a brand new watch as far as anyone is concerned.
ENJOY IT !!!!!

If there are two 16710LN models for sale in the same condition at the same price, you can bet the random serial will sell before the G-serial (all other things being equal).
But rest assured you did not get an old model. |

Now the average buyer doesn't even concern himself with serial number issues, they just buy what they want. Then they come on TRF to learn about there watch and end up reading about serial numbers and the gates of worry-ation open up. |

Out of curiosity, mine is an 'M' serial number, would that have been 2008?

^Maybe, or 2009 or 2010. Only Rolex knows for sure.

As always thanks for valued feedback.
Yes, regardless of the serial I am happy with the purchase. Just a little miffed at myself for not verifying serial and blue lume at the time of purchase. As for blue or green lume I'm not positive at this point. At first I thought it was green but after reading a few threads here it I'm not sure. It sounds like even the blue can appear green in certain conditions. I will try and verify this tonight. |

Your screwed. It is not with what you paid for it.
The random serial number is worth more than the G. You should go back to your AD and complain.
