I'd love to see it, but it better happen soon. It would be a shame to finally see it and have one or both be completely past their prime. That may already be the case for Pacman.

Too late for me to care. I may have actually bought it 3 years ago. Now I'll just hear about it on espn.

As much as I love Manny, I think at this time he will get destroyed and I can't stand Mayweather. Turn the clock back 6 years and I see all out brawl and you would be getting your money's worth. Although I have no idea who would win.

Mayweather is almost 50-0 and that's his goal. Rocky Marciano went 49-0 in 4 years.

May is 47-0 and SUPPOSIDLY retiring after his contract for his last 2 fights is completed. That leaves him with 49 wins (presuming he wins both)... Maybe he's gonna make his 50th fight Pac when they are like 45, lol.

Mayweather will be 49-0 at the end of his contract...just how he wanted it: as a free agent for fight #50.

Mayweather NEEDS this fight. His persona has not made him much of a pitchman for products. His endorsements aren't much. When he is done boxing, his income will decrease SIGNIFICANTLY. He knows that fight would be his big ticket, final fight, CASH grab.

Pac however doesn't need this fight. He is beloved in the Phillipines, he will always be able to make money outside of the ring. He is financially set, and doesn't have the extravigances that Mayweather does. Basically he doesn't need the money like Floyd will.

And THAT is why I hope the fight doesn't happen. I want Floyd to miss out on that payday. The fight should have happend many years ago, now...now I want him to know he missed that Golden goose.

As for the fight IF it happend: Floyd destroys Manny. He is naturally bigger, and one of the best counter punchers. Manny would play right into his strengths. Fortunately, I hope to never see this!

How will he need the money as you put? He's the richest athlete in the world, owns his own promotion team and is worth close to a half billion.... He's considered one of the best business minds in sports.

Because his direct income from boxing...where it is practically his ONLY income, will cease. His $30M per fight: gone. His cut for being the promotional company because he is the biggest fighter: gone. All the people under his banner will eventually bolt, because currently Mayweather has a stranglehold on who fights on his cards, and people sign with TMT to get the exposure from fighting ON HIS cards. Once those fight guarantees are gone, and the PPV of him being the headliner are gone...so will a majority of the fighters.

So, he'll have what he has made during his career, and he'll have some coming in. But look at his lifestyle and how he spends his money. He spends it as if he is getting $30M for every fight, and has 3 fights a year...and will do that forever. Can't live like that without that kind of funding source continueing. Maybe he changes his spending habits, and then maybe he'll be just fine. But my guess is a person of his character, that has made their name ("Money Mayweather") by their extravegances and spending...well, i don't see that leapord chaging it's spots.

So yeah...he NEEDS the $100M+ that he'd get from the fight with Manny.

Just my opinion though.

Not sure what all the CAPS are needed for. This is all well and fine, it's your opinion after all. But once again, you seem to be for some reason forgetting the fact he already HAS reportedly close to $500,000,000!

Caps were for emphasis. :)

I am not forgetting he "has" a crap ton of money. I'm saying he spends at a very high rate...and if out is greater than in....well...then him wanting one more big cash out, as he isn't exactly a "role model" as a spokesman/pitchman.

But you're right, it is just my opinion. Shoot, maybe he is the next George Foreman. I don't really know what the future holds...Floyd just seems like someone that would burn through his savings w/o a steady and LARGE income.

It's been a sensationally good business decision to delay the fight unfortunately. We should know this is a business first. Sucks for us.

Would also have loved to see this fight when Manny was in his prime years back. this one took way to long to happen that is if it even truly does happen.

There a lot of people who may not care at this point but there are lot "more" people out there who wants this fight to happen. I agree it would have been a better fight if it happened during their prime. But who cares if it is 5-6 years late. Better late than never. I am sure those people who are saying that they don't care at this point are probably going to watch the match when it does materialize.

Pacman has no chance? Why would Mayweather duck Pacman for so many years if Pacman does not have a chance? I would just love these two boxers go head-to-head and toe-to-toe not the run and chase boxing match that Mayweather wants. Just a money grab? Maybe for Mayweather. Pacman does not need a lot of money at this stage of his career. He has plenty enough to retire and plenty of things to earn money from his home country. He just wants to have that chance to put a "1" in the Loss record of Mayweather.

Mayweather is a brilliant, natural fighter, and so
is Manny Pacquiao. I just watched Pacquiao fight a
young, game, but unseasoned Algieri. Anyone
who believes that Pacquio is over the hill, should watch
that fight. Yes, five years ago Pac Man was faster,
stronger....but he is still one of the best fighters in the world,
and my belief is that a fight with Mayweather(a disgusting excuse for a human being, JIMHO), would be excellent, fast-moving, with the outcome
unknown in advance. I hope it happens.

Well looks like Pacman has agreed and is waiting on Mayweather for a May 2 fight:
