GMT 1675 find on ebay, too good to be true?
Been looking for a 1675 for a while and this one has popped up
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331356051079 It seems almost too good to be true at current price, I have contacted the seller and he says the watch is "100% original" and has box and papers included in sale. Also added that I have 14 days to return the item if not satisfied. I have looked over for signs of it being a replica and only thing that stands out is the GMT hand and potentially the finish of the metal/gold. If it were gold would it have that unpolished grainy appearance? I did ask for a photo of the movement but seller did not address my request. Thanks |

The seller has not sold any high end items. This is his first watch sale. The price is too low to be believed. I would stay away from this one.

It's an auction which ends in 16 hours. The price you can see will be higher at the end of the listing - if it's not removed in the meantime. |

I always go with the "if something looks too good to be true it usually is"..tread carefully.

Sometimes there are gems to be had a bargain prices; it does happen. Try contacting the seller and see what happens. If you go ahead pay with PayPal and credit card so you have a fall back position.

whats going on with the bracelet ends , and still got a sticker on the back , ??
look at the hole in the 11 lug , and the crown ,,, wonder where the lume from the 24hr hand is ,,, no recent history on feedback , and what there is is all low dollar stuff .... id be very wary , however ,,, why not arrange collection in person , be interesting to see where it ends. |

Well it has ebay protection on it and having studied it for some time I am 95% sure it's genuine. Will have a punt and if I win I will make sure to pay with CC and through paypal.
Cheers |

How can this watch be priced too low? It's an auction listing. Any serious bidder knows it's best to bid as late as possible. Bidding early shows there is interest and draws more viewers. Also, you potentially raise the price on yourself. Best of luck.

Couldn't sleep. Went back to look at the pics. There's something so darn attractive about this vintage piece.

In fairness, it is an auction.
I don't think the quoted price is "here, buy it for this much".. I think it's just the latest bid that's been placed, and I'd expect to see that price start to sky-rocket as the auction draws to a close. But indeed, be careful. |

I agree. And suspect the real flurry of bids will occur within the last 10 seconds as the snipes get triggered.

Make sure the watch you get is exactly the one in the pics. Common scam.

My snipe was too low (but not by much).
Somebody's either got a real bargain or a major headache. Guess we may never know which :-( |

Just be careful. Lots of stolen e bay accounts and to cheap to believe high end watches for sale. Never wire or Western Union (or similar) if you purchase. Use a credit card so you have some more protection for fraud. And ask why no one has purchased if BIN is low. M

The Bachmann & Scher photos at http://www.bachmann-scher.de/cms/fro....php?idart=704 (which is the only gold 1675 Tiger Eye on their web site), although similar, have a number of differences from the watch which was on eBay - the date is set to 28th (the eBay auction is 18th); the 24 hour hand has its lume intact; and the case back sticker is more worn.
Or is there another Bachmann & Scher photo that you can point us to? |

I was the one who won the auction.
I agree with all of you, the potential for this to be a scam is quite high. However I have taken the correct precaution paid using my credit card and through paypal. The item is covered under ebay money back guarantee and the seller is communicating with me. I did right click, search image in google and I couldn't find anything suspicious. Way I see it is if it's no good the worst case is that I will have to mess about for a month getting my money back. However It could be a diamond in the rough and a good investment. Life is too short to play it safe all the time. Will let you know how it goes. |
