Is this a good price for a new Rolex?

Thought I posted this yesterday, but maybe not, and hope this is the correct forum. My bucket list includes a James Bond Submariner, but not the original, way out of my league. Just saw this on ebay and would appreciate any thoughts as to price. Don't know much about them and any suggestions would be helpful. Price seems reasonable, but really don't know. Thanks. Ed

ideal for a US buyer you get free ship, cc points + extra warranty thru your cc company... yup.

only drawback is just don't expect it next day. that seller can takes weeks to deliver from past postings.

Jomashop is reliable but, in general, fishing for genuine rolex in eBay waters is dangerous.

Do you even know a single thing about the watch other than the make and model? The auction you linked to is using stock marketing photos.

Jomashop is a gray dealer, its listed as new with tags and all original packaging. Just won't get the Rolex warranty (but they do provide their own)

We get a lot of flea-bay refugees. Maybe he will check out our F/S section.

Having had problems with ebay many years ago, i just can't buy valuable objects there, even though they sell a genuine Rolex once a year or so. Great looking replicas and franken-Rolexes, though.

I've seen *** post in multiple threads about how eBay is the cultivation for basically every fake rolex on earth. While *** do have ** be careful (checking feedback, doing due diligence, talking ** the seller), there are fine sellers and deals that can be had. Many sellers that sell here, also sell on the bay.

Thanks for all the replies. Lots of food for thought. **tally forgot about possible sales tax. Also didn't think about the fake Rolex thing. I know there is mucho due diligence ** do before making a purchase such as this. I'd like ** be able ** make a confident purchase without learning everything ever known about Rolexes, and at the same time not over-pay. But with my type A personality that's not likely

Joma has a good reputation, and as pointed out earlier buying on Ebay has its own protections.

I'm contemplating this as well as some of the watches and dealers in TRF. Is there any chance another dealer, grey or AD would match the price? With Paypal, Ebay AND credit card buyer assurance, I think I would be well protected in case something went wrong.

It really makes the decision between used and new harder as well. Take the excellent condition A series 16700 from here I'm strongly considering as an example. By the time I get it serviced, I'm very nearly at this price new. But I know I'm dealing with a great seller.

Not a Joma fan. Was going to pull the trigger on a watch with them when I discovered that they were going to add on another 10% for our GST here. Very unlikely that that 10% would ever make its way to the Australian govt, so I put them in the dodgey category from that point on.

I have bought from Joma twice before and they are trustworthy & legit grey dealer. They sell 10-15 units of each watch model during their "flash sales", all brand new in box, never worn, so why shouldn't they use stock photos? What is the point of photographing 15 different new watches with stickers still on them?

It is true that they withhold the factory green warranty card in exchange for their own in-house warranty. You are basically getting a new watch without warranty card for what an mint to near mint example would cost here on the forums from a trusted seller with card/remainder of factory warranty.

So ultimate the buyer has to decide whether absolutely "never worn" or slightly used but with original warranty card is more important to you.

Thanks again to everyone who replied. This is the most active forum I've ever seen, and I thought my coin collecting forum was active...not so much. I appreciate the mention of David SW as a trusted seller. Who are some other trusted sellers? Thanks. Ed

Do a search in the Buyers/Sellers "Who's Who" section on here. Good luck in your hunt!

x2!!

Do some homework here & then pm David. Price will be right & you'll get a piece with a Rolex warranty that will make life easier should you have a service issue. Will also make it easier to sell / trade down the road shouldnupyou decide to move to another piece?
