Travelling to Japan on 17th Nov..
Hey guys, will be travelling to Japan to visit my in-laws next Monday for 10 days.
Climate is cold, will be wearing wool gloves and sports jackets, bringing one watch, either BLNR or Exp II Polar. Which is a better choice guys? Do PCLs get scratches when in contact with wool gloves constantly? Thanks in advance!! |

Is it safe to wear a Rolex with wool gloves? Probably.
I wish I was going. Yen is so weak now. Great time to buy Rolex. |

I would vote Polar Exp II [but that's because I have one!]
Great for travelling and non shiny bracelet will get less scratches. |

Safe travels, my friend. Love Japan. BLNR would be my choice. Although the Explorer II is not a bad choice for travel too. Enjoy.

If you will visit Tokyo, Hamamatsu and Nagoya, you will not need gloves as these places aren't that cold. Anyway I live in Tokyo and as someone says, this city is Rolex heaven!

Enjoy the trip! Cold weather and winter clothes makes me think of the Exp2 in it's element.

Last winter the winds blowing in from the coast in Hamamatsu was cold for me, being from Singapore where its always hot and humid. The coldest time for me was during my college days in the midwest, Iowa! |

Will gloves scratch your watch? Seriously?

I saw many BLNR's on the plane from Tokyo to Shanghai, so BLNR. It is very popular in Asia right now.

I think I'd make my decision on how casual the rest of your wardrobe is going to be. If the sport coats are dressier and worn with dress trousers and sleek leather shoes, I think BLNR with its PCL's would be a nice fit. If we're talking heavy tweed sport coats with chinos/jeans and boots, then the more rugged Exp2 would look more at home. But either way you can't really go wrong
Enjoy your trip! My wife and I are going to Tokyo soon (my first trip to Asia!) Be sure and post some of your trip highlights when you're back. |
