40mm vs 41mm
I know 1 mm is nothing but the illusion when holding a 40mm rolex to a 41 mm rolex seems like a huge difference or am i just loosing it?

No I totally agree with you. Yesterday I compared DJ II at an AD with my Explorer II 42mm and the 1mm is very noticeable as is the imm less you get with the Sub and Yachtmaster dials. The bezel on the Exp II is thinner than on YM and SubC but the face is so clearly bigger. It's fascinating to compare these things because all we do with watches it LOOK at them so of course we notice minute details after a while with our faves.

Dial size, bezel, case structure and crown guards can play tricks on your eyes.
1mm can look like a big difference depending on those variables. |

i don't know what "loosing it" means, but, i do try not to think about 1mm here or 1mm there. a watch is a watch, not a collection of measurements, IMHO.

It also depends if the time piece in question is accurately listed by it's size. I only have one reference measured, the Daytona is listed as 40mm but it's true size is 38.5mm.
Now if you compare a Daytona next to a Yachtmaster, they look completely different in size. Yet Rolex says they are both 40mm.
