Feedback needed on the 15400 and 5711
Torn between the 15400 and 5711. I tried on both and they both look good. I don't want to buy both at the moment.
Would really like to hear from 15400 owners about the wrist time it gets and what it's like to live with and overall satisfaction (any issues, versatility, dent/scratchability ) If anyone has both- I'd love to know which one you prefer and why. Thanks!

Feedback needed on the 15400 and 5711
Ruk...
I have a white dial 15400 and absolutely love it. IMO, the bracelet is perfection. I also love the look of the dial and bezel. For me, it is top notch. That being said, it is VERY vulnerable to scratches and if you want to keep it in perfect condition, you'll have to be aware of how close you walk to doors or how to rest your wrist at your desk... The way I look at it... if it can't be polished, it could be replaced. My bezel has a few marks and once I send it in for it's 3rd year review, if the nice folks in Clearwater are confident that by polishing, it will look 100% then I'm game. If not, replace it (cost around $800). Versatility - The "status quo" never appealed to me so wearing it with shorts or with a tux is ok in my book... and it works!! =) You can't go wrong with either choice |

Thanks VICI that's the exact kind of info I need. I do plan to get it in white if I do go ahead. I'm happy to accept that scratches happen. Have you had any issues with the watch itself ie. Mechanical or manufacturing issues? And any exp with AP derive times and costs?

Mine is an H serial - I did have to send it to AP - it wasn't running fast. They said it was a lubrication issue.
It's been over 1 yr since and it runs perfectly! Service is top notch! It was under warranty but the service cost after expiration is around $1,200 |

get a 5711 for your 'classy' watch and a ROO for your 'sporty' watch then you have the best of both worlds

I had the same dilemma; went with the 15400 because I prefer sporty and to my eyes it's more sporty, masculine, "industrial." 5711 is more elegant. One of these days I wouldnt mind circling back for the 5711 and having both.
15400 (blue dial) gets lots of wrist time - that and my BLNR are my 2 most worn. As was noted above, Im careful when i wear the 15400, to avoid scratches. |

I owned both at one point. Decided to let the AP go because it wasn't getting as much wrist time with the 5711 around, which was a lot more comfortable to wear. Both are definite scratch magnets but I did not hesitate to wear either on a daily basis. While the watches share somewhat similar DNA they are in completely different categories. A closer comparison would be between a 15202 and the 5711. Either way, I prefer the Patek

I thought about both.
I could not honestly justify the extra $12,000.00 for the 5711 when the 15400, to me at least, is as nice a watch with just as much history and tradition behind the brand. |

5711 is the clear winner for me.
In this category, only the 15202 can compete with the 5711 in my opinion (I have a slight preference for the 15202 over 5711 though) |

However, if its a 15202 and 5711, the cost difference is lesser but I would still choose the 15202 over the 5711. |

Pretty much sums it up. 5711 may have a slight better movement, by a hair, but 15400 has a better bracelet and more solid feel.

Well I have a different take on the choice. Buy the 15400 and save the difference, with the ultimate purpose of buying the 5711 in addition. That would make a great pair.

if you are able to see the full horizon from where you stand, then you can skip this stage, save money and go directly to the next stage. Now if you must play for sometime in this stage then go for the best retention value option, in this case is the 5711.

Currently I have both the 15400 SS Black and 5712/1A. The AP gets more of my wrist time as a daily watch because the PP seems to be more sophisticated due to the complications. I love the 5712, but it does wear small compared with the 15400 (and my previous ROO Navy).
I do have to say that I converted the 15400 to rubber strap with the help of an AD here in Taiwan, which made it very versatile and a little more sporty. |

Alex--great shot of the 15400...think it's a keeper!
As to OP the 5711 is a MUCH smaller watch, so only you can make that call. |

Here's a quick shot at the office. I like this combo more than my old ROO Navy because of its lower profile. I can actually tuck it under most sleeves.
