Goodbye to my Submariner Date 16610 LN

Some Forum members may recall I was contemplating on selling my 16610 LN earlier this year, but decided to keep it. Since acquiring the 114060, the wrist time of the 16610 LN has decreased and to be honest, I feel these two watches are too similar. Many may argue they are two very different watches (I agree to some extent), and would advise against this, but for me, the upgrades in to the bezel, bracelet and clasp of the 114060 along with similar appearance (less the date) is enough for me to come to the realization that I only need one black dial Submariner.

Having owned this watch since March of 2006, it has been through a lot with me. Hopefully there will be no feelings of regret later. I am fairly certain there will not be as I have put a tremendous amount of thought on this matter for the past several weeks.

My contact at the AD has generously offered to search out a buyer for me and has agreed to not charge for this service as a sign of gratitude for all the years of business I have provided for him.

Seems like a nice gesture on the part of the AD. If it doesn't get worn then it won't be missed. Sounds like a good choice.

There is always a potential for another kind of incoming. I have my sights set on the following:

Submariner Date 116613 LB (sunburst dial) and
Day-Date 118238

Cannot say it will happen this year, but the logical thing to do would be to put the funds received from the sale of the 16610 LN towards one of the two watches mentioned above.

Which way you leaning, Eric? I have a variation of both of these and would lean more towards the Bluesy.

At this point in time, the 116613 LB, but you never know. I tried on the 118238 last week and it was awesome. Just something about a solid gold Rolex that makes you feel happy.

I personally like the date feature on the sub but I also like the clean look of the no dial sub. Why oh why wasn't I born rich so I could have every rolex that I like.

Same for me I strongly prefer the date function, but I really love the classic look of the ND & wears extremely comfortable.

Adam

The simple answer is to do what I do, never ever sell. My sons will inherit the things and I gets to keep them for life. That is a win-win solution.

I have this theory that chaps who readily sell a watch are the sort who may buy on impulse. I tend to spend a few months deciding what I want and once I buy it, it is for keeps.

I only have two Rolexes but I have not the slightest ounce of buyers remorse and I am immune from sellers remorse.

Regards

Mick

There is a difference between seller's remorse and the decision to part with something after much deliberation. Rest assured there is no seller's remorse on my end.

And trader's remorse. I regret the two that I traded even though they were for other Rolex watches.

There is one way of being a seller that I don't think I will feel any remorse whatsoever. My brother is a professional and can afford a Rolex, but his priorities are in a different place. I am going to attempt to sell him one of my Subs for what I have in it (around $3,500). I bought it for about $2,600 and had it serviced. It should be perfect for him if he is interested. He loves watches, but so far I've only been able to talk him into a Seiko SKX

Just a quick update. The watch was sold yesterday at an agreeable price thanks to my contact at the AD who took time out his own personal schedule to do this for me.

Thanks again to all who responsded.

Best of luck with the "new" Sub. It will treat you well for many years!

I will agree with the others, you made the right choice.
