IMO there is no choice to make.
Go with the traditional and classic S/S Sub, with date.

Sorry I dont have pics but I would vote for the 16610.

The LV is beautiful in person, but I favor a black bezel over the green one.

Lv

I just love the maxi dial, the green bezel on the LV I like in small amounts, to me the ultimite is the LV with black insert.

I think the LV is smashing, but I wouldn't get one until I had the tried and true 16610 for more frequest wear. IMHO the green bezel is not quite as versatile. As far as collectability goes, no problems with either for some time to come. I gotta vote for the iconic 16610, but YOU should get the one that smiles at you the most. A side-by-side comparison may be adviseable.

dewller has got quite an idea there! Nice shots BTW!

16610 16610lv

Here is the best I could do for a side by side, I could not find a wrist shot of a regular 16610 I had. To the the difference is stunning.

I like the maxi dial but the green bezel leaves me cold.

This is a tough choice for many who are attracted to the LV and are pondering both. I faced the same decision when I bought my first Rolex. I had narrowed my choice down to either the regular Sub or the LV. I went with the LV and loved it, though it would be dishonest of me not to admit that there were times that I wished I had the black bezel for everyday wear. For better or worse I ended up flipping the LV for my DateJust. In a lot of ways I really miss my LV. The maxi dial is great and the green is really striking in person, but if given the choice again I might go with the regular Sub. Best of luck with your decision.

16610 sub date for me!!... Well I am biased... but I just love that classic sports 'tool' watch look. I plan on collecting further Rollies.... but the 16610 sub date is my first... and first love... :-)

I bought the LV because I liked the Maxi Dial (easier to see for me) plus I did like the green. It's a little different and I liked that. I think the LV will hold it's value a tad better but you get what you like. I saw mine in person, slipped her on and knew that was it..

16610, the bezel color of the LV does not match with everything.

Same here. And I don't like the green bezel.

Me too.

Sub Date 16610 - as God intended it. Green is not my scene.

My vote goes to the Sub Date 16610, as well. It's a great classic icon from Rolex that I personally keep turning back to.

I have an LV, I really like the later green luxurious colour on the current LV models, imho it exudes quality.
I was walking past my local AD at the weekend and they had an LV in the centre of the window. It was so striking it just jumped out at me in amongst all of the other models.
Choose your watch by the dial because what ever you want to do with the bezel can be altered, green to black and vice versa.

Cheers, PeterT
