AP Diver trade for Aquanaut

Should I trade in my Diver (SS) for an SS Aquanaut?

Keep the Diver, save up for a Nautilus

Absolutely not IMO. To each there own but I don't like the Aquanaut at all. That being said not overly in love with the Diver, which I have previously owned as well.

That seems steep to me assuming both are complete, similar condition etc.

Is that bracelet or rubber strap for Aquanaut?

As for the idea in general depends on your usage. Where/how would you wear? Tshirts or sweatshirts then Diver. Button down shirts then aquanaut since it fits under cuffs better. What is your Wrist size?

That's my general line of thinking...does one appeal to you more in general?

The price spread makes sense, used divers go for around 12k-ish, 5167's for 17k-ish. Been having the debate regarding my black themes model for an aquanaut. I have a smaller wrist and find the aquanaut a better fit, but when I wear the AP I remember why I got it in the first place. More than likely will just save up for the aquanaut, I'm planning on keeping it forever as a daily user. If you get clarity on your plan let me know, since i've been hemming and hawing for months.

IF you don't like the diver anymore then sure. But if you like the diver then no.

How does the Diver fit your wrist? Keep in mind the Aquanaut is a much smaller watch on the wrist. I would only consider it if it's not too small on you and if it came with steel bracelet.

One more point to add.

In my personal opinion the AP is much more aesthetically pleasing and substantial.

Yes without the slightest doubt… But maybe add a little and wait to get a 5711? I have the 5712 and it's my all time favorite watch

Up to you, I went with the Aquanaut when given the choice, then added the RO

I did the exact trade and I don't regret it a bit, you have to see the Aquanaut in person to really appreciate it, I would say go for it.

Contemplating one of the two right now. Was originally going to go for a 5711, but they are impossible to find now. Tried on the ROO Diver, which is the only offshore I like - it wears very large but still comfortable.

Only got to try on the Aquanaut on the bracelet which I didn't like at all. I think that watch is made for that strap.

Resale is considerably better on the Patek and the Diver is definitely scratch-prone I hear from friends of mine that have it. I also seem to find a lot of people selling the diver, whiles the Aquanaut stays a keeper.

The diver will compete with other divers I have (rolex, JLC, Omega, tudor) though with its unique design aesthetic, while the Aquanaut seems to fill its own niche.

Tough call..

Even though I am not a fan of the Aquanaut (GET A 5711!), I think this is a very good take an valid points.

As I mentioned I had the Diver, and I "liked it", really didn't love it, hence I sold it, but to each their own. Straight up, it would be hard to pass on the Aquanaut strictly because it is a Patek, but considering the fact that you have to pony up about $5k, I don't really like it that deal.

It's personal preference, but my ceramic diver gets 10x more wrist time than my 5711. If funds allow, grab a 5980 instead.
