Rare watches … rare books ?
The 'rare handcrafts' like enamel, marquetry, engraving …. the ned plus ultra among Patek watches.
We know them for their complications and their superb finishing But not often seen are the 'art' pieces aka 'rare handcrafts' Anyway, this is a book Patek made and afaik they are and were not for sale. But I think they must be very rare, I've seen all kinds of catalogs, big and small, boxes with leaflets, small books for the Nautilus ( 30th anniversary) , little books with 20 or so pages about their in-house chrono movements ….. But this … this was new to me. I had never seen this magnificent book dedicated to the rare handcrafts A pretty big (155 pages) book about enamel, marquetry, engraving …. clocks, watches, pocket watches … To give you an impression , here are some pictures Bad pictures I know :-) but at least you can see a few pages LOL Like said, I didn't knew such a book existed blue hard cover , and inside the 'Rare Handcrafts book'

Awesome book. Ken....With that 5131, I feel like I'm in that scene from pee-wee herman's when he can't find his bike and everyone else is riding their bikes around.

Wow, I don't know which is rarer - the 5131 or the book. I would say the book is a rare find.

But I have to confess, I never saw this book before. I have other catalogs they made for example - 29 535 PS chrono movement ( about 35 pages ) - The book about the Patek seal ( 40 pages) But this one ' Rare handcrafts' + 150 pages! is something very different My AD only had one while het gets tons of these others

some people should be embarrassed
Why do people want to sell things they got for free ? almost 400 USD : http://www.ebay.de/itm/Patek-Philipp...p2056016.l4276 free catalogs ( even when hard to get), free goodies …. should be forbidden to sell them

Anything from Patek can be sold. Not everyone can get it for free.
A few days ago I had a long talk with my AD in Spain and was told that Patek billed them everything for small accessories meaning none of them are free plus these little gifts will be allocated randomly in limited quantity. Of course, one can request but can't be in large numbers. Each AD is carrying different little gifts. I visited around 5 ADs. Placed a purchase in 3 ADs and only get free gifts from 1 AD, a necktie, a keychain, a pair of Patek gloves and a small cleaning cloth. Don't know how much these are worth but I do slightly feel special a little for having these. |
