Show her the savings and feedback from someone like davidsw and maybe she'll change her mind!

Good luck

As long as you are ok paying full retail you should have a good experience at any of the AD's.

The general consensus/experience seems to be no Rolex discounts in Vegas. It's a great place to window shop, and if you happen to find the watch you want, and you like the AD, make an offer. If they don't accept, you can always thank them for showing you the watch and walk out.

A quick look shows a SubC for $6995 from a trusted seller. Current retail is $8550 plus tax, so my quick math is a little over $9200 out the door. So $2K in your pocket to buy her something nice.

The "to buy her something nice" is the key phrase in that analysis. Like maybe diamonds???

Yes you can get a subC from a trusted seller.

But can you really get a brand new (BNIB) sub for $6995???

The AD around here san francisco are giving 10% discount for cash (wire, cashier check) payment. So if you can have it ship out of state. Or get the LV AD to give you a 10% discount and have it ship home. It seem to me you are saving only a few hundred.

I would get one from a trusted seller before going to an AD, that would be the real savings as others have mentioned. That said if you must buy from an AD its been my experience that the big ones don't deal a whole lot but are nice to visit to see a huge inventory in one place. Smaller family owned AD's seem to deal & want to go the extra mile to make you happy. At least thats how its been for me in the past.

David quotes a sub date about 1000$ less then buying from an AD. He has countless positive feedback from transactions he's done in this site. Go to the "who's who" section and just type in his name.

If he wants BNIB, then it's up to about $7500. Vegas is a very different market. Getting a discount form an AD is damn near impossible. You might be able to get it shipped somewhere to avoid the tax. Unless he really wants the whole AD experience, a trusted seller is the way to go.

I was at the Wynn back in early November looking at a DJ 116200 for my wife and a SubC for me. There was no discounts and they were willing to ship back to my home State to save on taxes.

Bought the SubC for me and the 116200 for my wife for far less using Oscar (Bodybump) here on TRF, who was terrific to work with. Both were BNIB.

I like supporting AD's and local business, but a $2k savings was too much too to leave on the table IMO. You can also take your time and get pre-owned if you are patient, save additional 10-15% with a the watch being less than a year old from what I have been seeing.

Just another up-vote for going with a trusted seller. I bought my first Rolex last July from DavidSW, and, yes, there is a little trepidation doing a transaction of that size with someone you've never met. It was seamless, and since then I've bought two more from him. All three were NIB with warranty cards. Between the discounts off MSRP and not having to pay sales tax, I've saved thousands. I keep telling my wife, if I buy several more, think how much we'll save!!

For a little extra measure of security and peace of mind, you can pay by Paypal, though that of course cuts into the amount you're saving.

Trusted seller all the way, been the AD route a few times in the past but simply not worth the extra cash IMO.

Most will accept PayPal, but will charge the additional % fee for the privilege (usually, around 3%). A bank wire is the cheapest route, and if you are dealing with a trusted seller with good references, you have nothing to worry about.

Tell the wife that any savings from buying on TRF can be used by her to buy something for herself in Vegas... See how fast you get a green light!

Like others have stated, you will not get a discount at an LV AD other than save on taxes. The bad part is you will not get the watch until it is delivered to you in California, not at the store. Wynn AD will charge you $94 to ship to California.

Best bet is to use one of the top trusted sellers here and take your new watch to Vegas.

Yes, I did use Paypal, though as others have noted, it's cheaper to pay with a bank wire rather than the 3% fee. And with the TRF trusted sellers there's not a lot to worry about with a wire.

Having lived in Vegas for many years (in my opinion) there are not any deals in Vegas. There are too many people who will pay full price on their first and only Rolex purchase. This causes ADs to demand sticker price.

If you must have an AD try OCTanner in Salt Lake City, or Barron and Leeds in Maui. I have purchased from both locations and they will get my return business.

A trusted TRF dealer is the way to go if you want to save some money.
My only issue is if Rolex keeps raising prices for stainless steel watches I will go only with TRF sellers.
