Opinions on a Datejust

I'm very new to he idea of a DJ and found one that has caught my eye. I'm curious the opinions of the group as to it's condition and if there's anything "off" about it that I should be aware of. Clearly not mint, but this would be a regular every day office watch.

The DJ is a great everyday watch, as Mon said. Also, you have great taste, see mine below.

I bought a BNIB from an AD DJ in 2008, white stick dial, wore it a month or so, and then I found a U Serial Sub for sale locally, bought it and wore it everyday until I traded it in as part f the deal for my DSSD. After getting the DSSD I wanted a DJ again, but I tried on the DJII 41mm, fell in love with it, and now I wear the DJII more than the DSSD.

While the DJ 36mm is a classic design and a great watch, I liked the bigger size of the Sub and for me the 41mm DJII is great.

Try both on and see which you like more, you can get a DJII here from a seller and save. The only downfall is the DJII does not come in white with Romans, just a stick dial.

That is a beauty. Agree, give the DJII a spin before you make your decision.

Thanks guys. I like both to be honest and will be visiting a local AD later today for comparison to be sure. My question was more focused on the specific watch posted. I'm generally one to buy most pre-owned items in person and not accustomed to spot major issues online.

Well Rolex74 hit on all the GREAT points.

I just (literally) bought the same exact DJ for my wife for Christmas. A classic in every way and will stand the test of time.

BUT for me the 36mm is just too small. It is PERFECT for my wife and she loves it and it looks absolutely beautiful on her wrist.

For me, my next grail is the DJII 116300 with white or black stick dial and smooth bezel.

HTH and good luck........either way you are on your way to a classic Rolex with any DJ.

The Datejust line is one of my favorites. Such a beautiful, versatile piece that is just as comfortable dressed up in a suit as it is in jeans and a polo.

I, too, prefer the larger size of the DJII. I highly recommend trying both on at the AD, then search for the right one "lightly used" from one of our trusted sellers.

Thanks. This is listed as a 16200 with an F serial #. When did the start selling the polished center links?

With the 116200 model (not sure exactly what year), maybe this was the last of the bunch being an F serial, but Rolex never polished the center links of a 16200. Not the biggest deal, but I would prefer a stock Rolex if I was buying pre-owned.

Not sure if the # here help determine if this is the correct bracelet?

That bracelet has hollow end links...the case has polished lugs. Definitely a mismatch here.

It's possible someone polished the lugs...

I'd steer clear of this watch and find a better stock example from a good seller.

Something not right here , polished lugs , polished centre links , should have solid end links . The bracelet should not have polished centre links with non solid end links etc etc .

Your money , your choice but I would steer clear of this one

Just looked again and I think it is an older model 16200 that has been re polished to look like a 116200 , that said I would still steer clear .

Seller just confirmed he had it polished to look like that. Makes sense now. Not sure I'll go fr it, but at least I know now. Thanks!
