What to add?!?
Hi All,
I don't post all that much, but browse frequently. Was hoping to get your opinion on what to add next to my collection, which is currently comprised of a Datejust 16220 and a Random Serial 14060M. I love both of these and don't plan on flipping either (ever), but will look at add another piece this year. FullSizeRender.jpg As you can perhaps tell from the Rolexes I currently own, I prefer no nonsense stainless steel models. I also think that perhaps these are two of the most "understated" or "classic" Rolexes there are. The most obvious suggestion is a Daytona, which I am leaning towards. The other is an older model Exp II, but it just doesn't sing to me. If you were me, where would you go? Maybe there's something I haven't even thought/heard of yet! |

GMT Pepsi or Coke for some colors and GMT complication? Might sing to you much more than Explorer since you enjoy a Sub.

I'm saving for my fourth Daytona.
Granted, the first three were traded up to other watches... My point is, whenever I am without a Daytona, I want another one. I highly recommend it, but try one on first. The Daytona polarizes Rolex admirers. Some love it as I do, others think it wears small, and some think it's a watch better suited for women (I disagree, but whether a man or a woman wears a Daytona is irrelevant). Many interesting recommendations are sure to follow... |

Reverso - you need a formal dress watch

I keep checking out the daytona online and every now and then I drop by my local AD to try one on. I love the dial in pictures and in real life...but it really does wear much smaller than my Sub-C and my Omega Seamaster.
I really like the GMT and strongly recommend you give it a whirl at the AD before making your final decision. |

I would definitely consider a 214270! IMHO, it's the most no-nonsense SS Rollie out there!

If it has to be a Rolex, then a Daytona, the other sports models are too similar to your Sub.
But there is life beyond Rolex, maybe a Panerai? Strap changing is great!

Thanks for the suggestions all! I'm not great with the quote function, so it's probably easiest if I just cover off each watch suggested in bullets.
16710 Coke or Pepsi - I agree that my collection needs some colour, and do love the Pepsi model. I have just found the pre-ceramic GMT market to be a bit wonky since the BLRO came out, if prices came back down to earth a little I would be more interested, but don't know if that is ever going to happen. It also has the same case, is the same size and has generally the same look as my sub. I like the two Rolexes that I have now because they are so different, and would like to keep the variety up. Daytona - I have no issues with its size. My wrist is 6.75" and I really like how my 36mm Datejust sits on it. I ended up going with the 14060M over the 114060 as, although both 40mm, the 114060 just engulfed my wrist. You could also say my Datejust seems more suited for a woman, but I think it's masculine all the same. Reverso - the Reverso was on my list for a long time (and still is), love the history and the ability to get a dual-time edition for travel. But my DJ is so close to a dress watch, I could throw it on leather and it would class up nicely. I also am fond of Nomos watches, and as a dress watch, they might even pip the Reverso. 214270 - It's too big! I do like the design more than the older versions, but I just can't pull off a 42mm watch. |

I'm reading it for the second time (Holiday break activity). I feel like Ayn Rand would look down on all of us, me for asking for free advice, and you for giving it!
I also feel like most of the characters in this book would wear a Rolex: simple, stripped down, tough and over-engineered but definitely a luxury item. Though, they would probably be made of Rearden Metal. |

I think your collection just needs a Royal Oak

Sounds like a daytona for the reasons given. I do think you would enjoy a classic 39mm or even 36mm AP RO very much classic style with out a yell in your face look.

The 214270 is 39mm. But a 114270 would go better with the above pair, IMO. |

If SS, adding a Daytona will round up beautifully your collection.
