Thoughts on this 1601?

Looking for a Datejust for my gf. This will be my first vintage Rolex. Love the colored dials. What do the experts think of these, generally?

A 1601 head in decent condition is worth $1150-1800 (up to 2200 for a Wide Boy). Adding a repainted dial with diamonds doesn't make it more valuable. In fact, many would argue that it decreases the value. I don't hate repainted dials or making a watch look the way you want it to, just don't overpay for the privilege.

Talk about a color clash.

Aftermarket dial and hands and 2,999 without a band. It's worth less than 2k that's for sure

Thank you! Wasn't sure if it were original. You've confirmed my suspicions. Much appreciated. I definitely want an original classic.

For me that just looks errrm, how to be diplomatic - all wrong. Why not go for an honest example without refinishing? I cant get my wifes off her wrist even though she was just trying it for size months before her actual birthday....! Good luck!
