Michael Young - Safe for rolex repair?
Hey, I've recently purchased a 14k rolex date just. Unfortunately the band is extremely stretched and I am struggling to find a reputable repairer. I have stumbled across somebody called Michael Young from Hong Kong (http://www.classicwatchrepair.com) have any of you used his services? I'm based in the UK so sending my watch to Hong Kong is a huge concern for me and want to make sure it's all kosher. I'm new to the forum so sorry if there was a way to search for this or if I'm breaking any rules by posting his website URL. Thanks guys.

I've used him once, referred him to a local friend once, and currently have another bracelet on the way to him. The job he did on the previous two bracelets, a 93150 SS Oyster and TT Jubilee, was excellent and performed the work in two weeks (not including shipping) even though he estimated 8-10 weeks.
The bracelet I have "on the way" has actually been stuck in the Hong Kong postal system now for eight days. The last tracking entry on Jan. 16th claims an "incorrect address" which I've reported and I can only wait for them to act upon it. They said it may take "up to 23 days" to finalize . FedEx is an option but for me it was a $100 shipping fee one-way. Priority Mail was $45 with insurance. Oddly, Michael Young charges $28 for Fed-Ex from Hong Kong, but no insurance is available, and my bracelet was delivered in four days. My friend's bracelet took one month to arrive via USPS but on the return trip arrived overnight via FedEx!

Michael Young
I sent Michael an old riveted, early 1960's Oyster Bracelet about three years ago that was pretty sloppy, but not in bad shape for being over 50 years old that needed a "face lift." I sent it to him with the USPS Priority Mail with insurance and he received it in a week and sent an email confirmation upon arrival. He had it done and shipped back to me in just over a month with no hiccups. Once it was completed he emailed once again so I knew it was being sent back to the states. Obviously, his turn around time varies with his current workload, but he did wonders tightening it up and providing many more years of life for a reasonable price. I would not hesitate to send another bracelet to him in the future!

Just for clarification, are you sending the entire watch for service? or just the bracelet to remove the stretch? the comments were a little misleading?

He did my president bracelet over a year and a half ago and the band is still as tight as it was day one when I got it back.. Yes it took 60 days, one typhoon, and many chewed fingernails later, but was the best decision I could have made... Get a nice strap in the interim and the days will pass quickly..

You're just sending the bracelet, right? I wouldn't send him the watch itself. He's no better than the average watchmaker in that department.
