Greetings. I know this seems like a weird post, however, I am looking for any opinions or help that I can get regarding Vacheron Constantin. I have just discovered the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph. It really seems like a sharp watch. Also, I know that Vacheron Constantin has a very rich history in horology. However, I do not ever hear of any VC watches mention in any posts or threads. I do however, hear tons of Patek and AP references. Is there any particular reason why? I am very curious as I am considering selling my SS Yachmaster ii and buying this particular VC. Thanks.

VC is the third member of the holy trinity (with PP and AP). I'd take one over a YMII for sure.

Vacheron is one of the best watchmaker in the world. Overseas chrono loves that model.

I really like the Overseas and I´d also take one over a YMII.

VC was founded in 1755 and has a long rich history of making exquisite timepieces. Of the 3 in the holy trinity, VC seems to be sold at the highest discount and have a lower resale as a result, which is why you may not hear it discussed as often. In 1996, they were bought by the Richemont Group and thus are no longer family owned.

I for one, love the VC Overseas and would like to buy one someday.

Vacheron Constantin for sure, although I would wait until next year, then it will be a 20 year anniversary for the Overseas line. VC introduced a new inhouse chronograph movement this year. Hopefully that means an update of the OS.

Vc for suree but depense on what you have if i dont have a rolex yet and want a sport watch i will get the yatch master is a beautiful sport watch

Well as far as chronographs go, I'd take the VC. I think it compares better to the current Daytona. Same layout for the Sub dials.

Overseas's present model never grown on me just like only as appeal as Breguet XX model
There are more exquisite VCs available

I personally would not go with Over seas if you are going holy trinity the only one I would go is Royal Oak 15202.

It is difficult decision. Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph is really great watch. I have tried that model on my wrist and I was amazed at its finishing. However, I prefer the YM II over the VC.

The most important factor is the design and which you like better. Everything else means nothing.
If you dont like the design of the VC, PP, or AP they might as well be a door stop.
There is no wrong answer when choosing a watch.

Same here. Not so sure about previous comments on VC being most discounted. Seems discounts are very stingy on brand new VC's. Much easier to find discounts on AP in my experience.

I love both models and think the world of both makers, I think the YMII is cool as hell but a gold VCOS Chrono is my grail so I can't go with the YMII in this instance.

I had the same dilemma.After some research, I chose the VC, and after considerable wait, one came up for very reasonable price, with a fresh service, and I went for it.
I'll tell you this thing is magnificent.Daytonas are great,no doubt, but everyone and their dog has a Daytona, a VC OS , not so much.
I'd say go for it, you won't regret it.I certainly don't.

I like the YMII out of these two choices, it has an novel in-house movement. Countdown timer is more unique than chronograph.

I completely agree with you!

I just think a traditional chronograph is more practical then a 10 minute timer. But don't get me wrong I think the YMII is a remarkable achievement and unique piece in a world of copy-cats!!

I had a Daytona and the YMII both in solid gold and love the YMII. Also just to make a point, never used the chronograph on the Daytona and never used the egg timer on the YMII as there was never a need. So purely on that, even though the VC has a chrono function, I'm going to say who cares because I will never use it and don't care of that function like some people here seem to have made it an important function compared to the egg timer of the YMII. I prefer the YMII purely on looks, weight and size.

Go with what makes you happy. Nothing wrong with switching things up.

Personally, though, if the goal is one of the so-called "holy trinity", I would rather take an AP or PP over VC, since there's that something extra IMHO with haute horlogerie to be independent (VC is now owned by Richemont, same company that owns JLC, IWC, Panerai, Piaget, Cartier and Montblanc, among others).

true, I do use chrono's a lot in my work (also use the brietling scales, 0-100 is useful for billing).

I have a soft spot for real count down timers since my grandfather was a good sailboat racer. He had all sorts of cool "egg timers" some of those beautiful regatta watches don't tell time, all they do is count down.

As an aside old sailing trophies are beautiful.
