GMT II- misprint?
I was at an AD yesterday and I was told they have a rare GMT II that has a misprint on the dial.
It was the SS GMT ceramic bezel I think. I did not bother to look at it because I am not in the market for the watch. But the sales lady stated her Rolex rep came in and said the printing for GMT II is actually GMT ll, Anyway she said that since it does not have the Roman numeral II but rather two sticks ll, that the watch was somehow rare and that that this misprint is trying to be kept a secret by Rolex. Like it said, I did not even look at the watch, which I guess I should have to see what she was talking about, but was looking at other items in the store and did not have a lot of time. Anyone heard of this rare "misprint" or is it just another angle to try to get you to but a watch? |

Surprised this one has gotten by you... discussed MANY times here. You might try a search.

erm i think its the latter of her trying to get you to buy the watch. apparently two different printers did the dials for rolex, one using II and one using ll.

It's not a big deal. Those dial variations are just variations of dial font. Not especially rare, and not a thing that should boost resale value.

Sorry, I will do a search next time. I am not in the market for a GMT II so do not participate in a lot of those posts. Was just trying to throw something out there that I heard at an AD.

Mark, no apology necessary. I spent much time here reading and searching before actually posting. Just about any question you can imagine has already come up at some point if you look a bit. Didn't mean to criticize...

Sorry for asking this stupid, off-topic question, but HOW do you type that II versus "11" (see? I can't seem to get it right! ).
I get either "11" or ||.

Hey Bo, why don't you try the letter "l" (el) twice?
