Just curious.
I want to eventually own one of these, and i'm not sure if it is a great watch for everyday use, no matter where you're going, or you have to be extra cautious with these beautiful time pieces.
I've read several cases where they scratch up very easy, just want to confirm from existing RO owners.

Doesn't mean I won't own one, just want to know what i'm in for beforehand!
Excited anyway.

That's the thing - it's the bezel that is most vulnerable, ceramic is a good bet on the bezel if you're worried.

Anyone know how much AP charges to replace a dinged up ROO bezel when in for service?

They scratch for sure, but depending what you are doing can minimize how many you put on it. As mentioned, the bezel is the most vulnerable. Personally on a service I would just have the bezel replaced versus a polish because any deep dings would probably require too much material to be removed. With that said, I have never experienced a deep ding as of yet.

Bracelets are brushed and as they are not polished, scratches are very easy to remove.

All round great watches in any configuration.

Most watches with SS bezels mark up, ROs, Nautilus', Daytonas...

I wear a Jumbo 7 days a week. I work in a corporate environment so it really does not see heavy use. I would say yes it can but not in my case. It is the only nice watch I own and don't plan on picking up anything soon.

The AP RO bezel seems to have a substantial molecular attraction to scratches.

I have to type on a computer electronic medical record and during the summer (short sleeves) I scratch my watches way more than winter when they're covered with sleeves.

I can't say that I find that my ROC scratches more easily than my former Daytona (polished clasp was full of scratches) or current VC Overseas Chronograph. So I say go for it and enjoy wearing it. Scratches can always be polished out or parts replaced

Didn't mean to turn you away from the RO. It's a thing of beauty and I thoroughly enjoy mine every time I wear it. But prone to scratches, yes...yes it is

When I owned a 15300 it show wear, saying this you are buying a Royal Oak timepiece and just wear it and enjoy it

Thanks for the responses guys.
Like I said, this is not going to put me off from buying the RO, but rather just to re think where I will be wearing it.
Will definitely not wear it when i'm going to a club etc as things do get messy when I have drank a lot.
That's why I have my SUB

Plus you can have AP polish it 4/5 times without ruining the integrity of the lines so you always have that option.

I have also been wondering the same thing. Does anyone have any pics of well worn royal oaks? I'm not afraid of scratches but just curious on wear over time.

Precisely, the Royal oak is the absolute worst watch to wear if you plan to end up tipsy. Always go rolex for such endeavors.

Although I have worn my RO in such scenarios, I end up walking through crowds with my hand on my wrist lol not worth it

They scratch more than anything I own- but it remains one of my favorites. I am not too careful, so I have some scratches on the bezel and bracelet, but it still looks great. The first cut is the deepest.

Yes it scratches! Much more so than my sub. But then again, being a little bit more careful is well worth it as the AP is such a beautiful watch. I love the fact that I've only seen 3 out and about (1 belongs to my neighbor who has a Grand Prix carbon AP that I saw while we were dropping off the kids one morning at the bus stop!)

They scratch easily. The first ones suck, then you get used to them. Eventually all the scratches will give it a nice individual character. Then at some point you have it serviced and they send it back as new.

Ro's and Nautiluses are supposed to scratch easily, same type flat brushed bezel, after 10 months daily wear my 5712 has 2 microscopic scratches on the bezel, more like hairlines, so practically invisible, is it better without? Yes, does it bother me? No not really...
