Got screwed by MattSandy ...please read
Hello fellow members!
Most of you don't know me as I am quite a silent member, but now and then I post a couple things here and there... Recently (almost a month ago) I purchased a used jubilee bracelet for my wifes DJ from another member on the board and now he seems to be unreachable or is disregarding my emails. I haven't heard from him in 2,5-3 weeks, shortly after the payment was made. I think its very odd. The bracelet was paid 1/19, was supposedly shipped 1/20, yet no tracking number has been provided although I have asked for it several times. The payment was made through PayPal and I paid the fees, but I don't know if I am allowed to receive my money back or not "??". So before I go about this with PayPals resolution center (whatever good it can do, I don't know), I want to hear it out with you guys first. Its not a whole lot of money (USD 200) but I do not want to get taken by someone and especially not another forum member. After all, we are all here for the same reason. I am quite shook at the moment, sent him maybe 3-4 PM's and about the same number of emails without a response. What is going on, I wonder... I should mention that I believe he lives in Australia and I live in Sweden, if anyone has any idea of the time it takes to post this distance - please fill me in. Any suggestions to what actions to take? I'll hold of with mentioning the guys name for now. Thanks for any help. |

Well its a ladies bracelet and he seemed to have had it out on the sales thread for a while, bumping the price down...down...down.... looked legit, and I am not calling him a fake although I think his interaction methods are unique.
MattSandy http://www.rolexforums.com/member.php?u=128580 Is the guy I bought from he was last online here 1/31-15 Thanks |

why wait to dispute with PayPal, if the seller is unresponsive that is reason enough to dispute. Not that this helps but what kind of track record did the seller here have and what kind of due diligence did you do to make sure s/he was on the up and up? a pledge membership means very little if there is no track record of trusted sales.

Here is the sales thread.
http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=378003 He has little feedback, but is also a new member. You can check all the threads he has started. Thanks! |

it befuddles me when people let their guard down merely because someone is a pledge member. Did you see any feedback about the user?
Also, file the paypal claim yesterday. If seller is legit, they will understand.

No, I looked for feedback on him and he has done deals with others where buyer and seller were happy. so I wouldn't say I just let my guard down... |

Send a moderator a note about this, they won't be able to intervene on your behalf so much as they may know something you do not. Also you'll want them to be aware of what is going so that if they can corroborate your claims and find this seller was acting maliciously he can be banned.

I would file a dispute. If it shows up, I would re-send the money.

PP will always side with the buyer. The fact that it was a goods transaction and no tracking # was posted is all it will take to get your $ back.

Thanks for all the info and comments. I dont know the market price for a tt jubilee for ladies watch, i would just assume it is what the market offers and since nobody bought it at 345 Or 250 it was lowered again and when i saw the bracelet i asked to buy it because i needed it.
Ill contact a moderstor and see what help i can get. Thanks! |

A mod can't solve the problem, but they can suspend a member to keep them from posting in the sales corner to keep others from being taken.
You are doing the right thing with PayPal. You should get your money back as long as it wasn't sent as money to friends and family. If it is a misunderstanding, you can always pay again. Good luck.

200 dollars. OK.
File the claim. The guy may be a "pledge member", easiest 25 bux spent to scam someone. Being a pledge member is definitely not a reason to automatically trust someone. Especially not someone who sells a product way below its normal price. He has only been a member here since august 2014, so not that long, and he's not exactly a big poster either, not that that would automatically mean someone is trustworthy.

I would contact a well known moderator and ask him for help in contacting the pledge member for a resolution. If that doesn't work I than would file a dispute!

I'm currently in a similar situation with the same seller for considerably more money. We'll see how it plays out.

File disputes. That's it. he gets 30 days to respond through Paypal. If not you get refunded.

His IP resolves to New Zealand and his original registration to Australia.
Perhaps his movement is legit and the reason for his non-comms. Saying that, be very mindful of any deadlines that Paypal set and be ready to start a claim. If payment by wire transfer, a very deep breath is in order. The guy is a newbie, good or bad.

It surprises me how many scammers think they can scam someone as a seller on paypal, these dirtbags cant be very bright.
Case in point, someone tried the same kind of thing on me recently and lost miserably hehe
